Mirando tu retrato me embeleso
Absorta vuela mi imaginación
soñando que respondes con pasión
a la quimera de robarte un beso

Te invoco en voz baja, como un rezo
Tristeza y alegría en el corazón
pues sé que no hay camino a nuestra unión
ni eco al amor que te profeso

Pero me niego a dejar de mirarte
que es la forma que tengo yo de amarte
ya suene vano, tonto o sin razón

Pues en mí tiene más valor que el oro
el tierno sentiminto que atesoro
que es chispa vital de mi inspiración

Vital spark

Looking at your portrait I am enraptured.
Absorbed flies my imagination
dreaming that you respond with passion
to the chimera of stealing a kiss from you

I invoke you in a low voice, like a prayer
Sadness and joy in my heart
for I know that there is no way to our union
nor echo to the love I profess for you

But I refuse to stop looking at you
which is the way I have of loving you
whether it sounds vain, foolish or unreasonable

For in me it has more value than gold
the tender feeling that I treasure
that is the vital spark of my inspiration

Luego de cerca de un mes de haber terminado mi serie de sonetos con versos alejandrinos, he decidido iniciar una serie nueva. En esta ocasión vuelvo a los sonetos, pero en esta oportunidad me voy a dedicar a los versos clásicos, es decir, los endecasílabos, que es la estructura tradicional en la lengua española.

En verdad, nunca pensé que llegara a apasionarme tanto este tipo de poesía, por lo exigente de su estructura, pero me doy cuenta de que es eso, precisamente, lo que la hace hermosa, compleja, retadora.

La serie anterior estuvo dedicado a temas eróticos y vivenciales. En esta oportunidad me voy a inclinar a un tema más amplio, como lo es el amor, el de pareja, sea esta real, imaginaria, soñada, pero de esas que nos estremecen de cuerpo entero.

¡Espero que también esta colección de sonetos que empieza hoy, sea del agrado de todos los lectores!

After about a month of having finished my series of sonnets with alexandrine verses, I have decided to start a new series. This time I return to sonnets, but this time I am going to dedicate myself to the classic verses, that is to say, the hendecasyllables, which is the traditional structure in the Spanish language.

In truth, I never thought I would become so passionate about this type of poetry, because of its demanding structure, but I realize that this is precisely what makes it beautiful, complex, challenging.

The previous series was dedicated to erotic and experiential themes. This time I am going to focus on a broader theme, such as love, that of a couple, be it real, imaginary, dreamed, but one of those that thrill us to the core.

I hope that this collection of sonnets, which begins today, will also be to the liking of all readers!
