(Esp/Eng) Storytime: Mes rosa y mi experiencia con un fibroadenoma mamario

El 19 de octubre es el día internacional de la lucha contra el cáncer de mama, por tal motivo, todo el mes de octubre es considerado el mes rosa para fomentar la concientización sobre la segunda causa principal de muerte de las mujeres a nivel mundial y hoy, con este video, quiero dejarles un mensaje para remarcar la importancia de hacerse un auto examen para detectar bultos que antes no estaban y los chequeos anuales.

¿Sabías que en el 95% de los casos en los que el cáncer de mama se detecta a tiempo, se puede curar?

Hoy en día el tratamiento contra esta enfermedad está más avanzado que en años anteriores y estamos orgullosos de decir que EL CANCER DE MAMA SE PUEDE VENCER. Por eso es importante detectarlo a tiempo, así cada año, las muertes por cáncer de mama van disminuyendo cada vez más.

Por otro lado, les quiero contar mi experiencia con un tumor benigno denominado fibroadenoma que me extirparon hace casi dos años de la mama derecha. Por mi edad era poco probable que ese bulto que detecte fuera cáncer, pero al no tener la información suficiente, lo primero que uno piensa cuando se detecta un bulto en la mama es que se trata de cáncer, pero no, hay otras cosas que pueden ser: quistes, fibroadenomas, lipomas. ¡La duda se quita con una ecografía!

La mayoría de las veces, sobre todo en mujeres menores de 40 años, los bultos mamarios son benignos, pero la alarma crece cuando se presentan otros síntomas, tales como:

On the other hand, I would like to tell you about my experience with a benign tumor called fibroadenoma that was removed almost two years ago from my right breast. Si tienes más de 40 años de edad, debes hacerte los chequeos por más que no tengas estos síntomas, la detección temprana puede salvar vidas. Hazte el autoexamen, levanta los brazos y toca con la mano todo alrededor del pezón, de la axila a la mama y si detectas un bulto que antes no estaba, no te alarmes, consulta con un profesional, sea benigno o no, CONSULTA.
