Lord I love Lexi but yirre is she too clever AND pretty for her own good!

We've had construction workers in our complex disturbing the peace and waking my unemployed ass up with chainsaws and grinders at 8am. It's no wonder one of the cats got spooked and bolted.

I actually thought it would be Squeek out of all of them as she's the most skittish, but Lexi? No way. She's my bed ninja 😢
So it started with her not showing up for meal times and MEOWING loudly at 3h45 am every morning to be let into our bedroom so she could cuddle @zakludick (that's right, him. Not me. Her damn mother).

And then she stopped coming home completely 😢 we've had a bad run with kitties this year and I am super emotional when something goes awry with any of my furbabies.

A few days later we spotted her on the neighbour's roof and we were able to coax her inside with tuna. That didn't last and she Houdini's her little furry butt out before we knew it.

A few days after that we spotted her in our neighbour's garden, sunbathing like she didn't have a care in the world, so off I went with my tin of tuna to retrieve her AGAIN. it took a little longer this time and juggling keys, a squirming cat and an open tin of tuna is no joke.

I managed to get her home and stuck her in my room. Once again, she managed to dart past me as I was distracted and too slow. Then for the next week I could see her on the garage roof and in the neighbour's garden just giving me the evil eye.

I decided to wait until the workers were done and Mittens had been to the SPCA for the chop so that things would be peaceful and hopefully now ball-less mittens wouldn't harass her so.

So yesterday I returned to our neighbour's armed with a tin of tuna but had Aime with me for backup.

It was a 45 minute standoff.

The trick is to play it cool, have irresistible food and prenend she doesn't exist.

I sat down on the pavement and chatted to our lovely neighbour who informed me that Lexi has been house hopping and was being fed by at least 3 different families 🤣🤣 I think these people were her new favorites because they were now privy to the 3am booty call and really, they didn't look like they wanted to give her back. I can't blame them. She is very very lovely.

So the neighbour's and I sat and chatted and made a few rookie mistakes that had Lexi turn around and go lick her butt just out of reach of us.

EVENTUALLY.

She couldn't resist it anymore and she came close enough for me to reach her.

I didn't react immediately but rather let her think that I was just there to feed her, and as she stuck her head in the bowl, I grabbed her!

Amie and I scuttled home, this time Aime carrying the keys and the tuna and me wrestling a very squirmy and pissed-off Lexi. We got her upstairs and that's where she's going to stay for the next two weeks!

GROUNDED!

I'm going to put an extra tag on her collar that tells people not to feed her and that she does actually have a home.
