Hello to everyone in the Hive Pets community! Today I bring you a great news and is that on the 20th of this month of July, my kitty Kira's babies were born. Something we had been waiting for a long time, thinking that every day would be the day of her delivery and when we least expected it, the babies arrived. So here I tell you how everything went, their delivery process, the arrival of the babies and how they have behaved during these five days of life.

On the 20th around 1 pm, my cat Kira started meowing a lot, looking for us and licking herself insistently. We knew she was going into labor because days before, Kira had released the mucous tampon, a sign that the cat is close to delivery. And her behavior showed us that we should give her our full attention. So we took her and put her in our room, which is the most appropriate place because we can keep an eye on her.

¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Hive Pets! El día de hoy traigo una grata noticia y es que el día 20 de este mes de Julio, nacieron los bebés de mi gatita Kira. Algo que veníamos esperando por mucho tiempo, pensando en que cada día sería el día de su parto y cuando menos lo esperamos llegaron los niños. Así que aquí les cuento cómo fue todo, su proceso de parto, la llegada de los bebes y cómo se han comportado durante estos cinco días de vida.

El día 20 a eso de la 1 de la tarde, mi gata Kira comenzó a maullar mucho, buscándonos y lamiéndose insistentemente. Sabíamos que estaba entrando al proceso de parto porqué días anteriores, Kira había soltado el tampón mucoso, una señal de que la gata está cerca del parto. Y su comportamiento nos demostró que debíamos darle toda nuestra atención. Así que la tomamos y la metimos a nuestro cuarto, que es el lugar más apropiado pues la podemos vigilar.

As I mentioned a few days ago, we had prepared several "nests" (cardboard boxes with blankets) for her to choose the one she felt most comfortable in. She didn't like any of them, so we had to put her in a box with a cloth we got for her. We stayed there for about three hours cuddling her, with the contractions getting stronger and stronger and her being quite restless.

At about 5 pm, Kira was ready to give birth. I was a little nervous because it was her first delivery and she was in a lot of pain with the first baby that started to come out. At one point she even got aggressive so we left her alone and finally, the first baby came at 5:30pm. It was the black kitten you see in the pictures and video. She immediately took it upon herself to clean the baby and eat the placenta.

Cómo comenté hace unos días, habíamos preparado con anticipación varios "nidos" (cajas de cartón con cobija) para que ella ubicara en el que se sentía más cómoda. No le gusto ninguno, asi que tuvimos que meterla en una caja con una tela que conseguimos para ella. Allí estuvimos unas tres horas acariciándola, con las contracciones cada vez más fuertes y ella bastante inquieta.

A eso de las 5 de la tarde, Kira estaba lista para dar a luz. Yo estaba un poco nerviosa porque era su primer parto y ella sentía mucho dolor con el primer bebé que comenzó a salir. En un punto incluso se puso agresiva así que la dejamos tranquila y finalmente, el primer bebé llegó a las 5:30pm. Fue el gatito negro que ven en las fotografías y en el vídeo. Inmediatamente se encargó de limpiar al bebé y comer la placenta.

The second baby arrived 15 minutes later. It is the spotted one, like a tiger. Kira was no longer crying, she was at her job of receiving and cleaning. The second baby was born very easily, so fast that when we missed it by a few minutes, the third baby, the white one, was already born. We waited a few more minutes as Kira had each baby within 15 minutes of each other, so by the time an hour had passed we knew she was done with her labor.

Kira spent the first day demanding that we stay by her side (she would get irritated if we left the room), but as the days went by, she stopped doing that and concentrated on always being there for her babies. We are always waiting for her to open the door so she can go out to do her needs (Kira can only do it in her litter box), also so she can rest for a while and eat (although we leave food and water in the room so she doesn't have to go out all the time).

El segundo bebé llegó 15 minutos después. Es el de manchas, cómo un tigre. Kira ya no lloraba, estaba en su trabajo de recibir y limpiar. El segundo bebé nació con muchísima facilidad, tan rápido qué cuando nos perdimos por unos minutos, ya había nacido el tercer bebé, el blanco. Esperamos unos minutos más pues Kira tuvo a cada bebé en un intervalo de 15 minutos, así que cuando paso una hora sabíamos que ya había terminado su labor de parto.

Kira paso el primer día exigiendo que nos quedaremos a su lado (se irritaba si nos íbamos del cuarto), pero conforme pasaron los días, dejo de hacerlo y se concentro mucho en estar siempre para sus bebés. Nosotros estamos pendiente de abrir la puerta para que salga a hacer sus necesidades (Kira no puede hacer sino en su caja de arena), también para que descanse un rato y coma (aunque en el cuarto le dejamos agua y comida para que no tenga que salir siempre).

The babies are very healthy and in good spirits, otherwise it is very likely that Kira would have abandoned them. We have also tried not to put our hands, touch the kittens or take them out of their nest because if we do, Kira may reject them. We have to wait at least two weeks. They are almost a week old and we hope to be able to see how the kittens open their eyes. Kira is an excellent mother, very attentive with her kittens and when she needs something, she lets us know. We already know each other. I know this time will go by very fast so I am enjoying it as much as I can until the day the kittens get a new home. Los bebés son muy sanos y tienen muy buen ánimo pues de ser lo contrario, es muy probable que Kira los fuera abandonado. También hemos procurado no meter nuestras manos, ni tocar los gatitos o sacarlos de su nido pues sí lo hacemos, Kira puede rechazarlos. Debemos esperar mínimo unas dos semanas. Ya casi cumplirán una semana y esperamos poder ver en ese transcurso cómo los gatitos abren sus ojos. Kira es una excelente madre, muy atenta con sus gatitos y cuando necesita de algo, nos avisa. Ya nos conocemos. Sé que este momento pasará muy rápido así que lo disfruto tanto cómo puedo hasta el día que los gatitos tengan un nuevo hogar.
