Carnaval y reinvindicación de la mujer en la historia + El disfraz de mi hija + bonus track

En estos días estamos preparándonos para las celebraciones de carnaval, de hecho, esta semana la ciudad de Caracas ha estado llena de decoración de carnaval en sus calles y avenidas y en algunos casos el tráfico ha colapsado para dar paso a las comparsas y caravanas que las escuelas organizan para celebrar el carnaval con sus estudiantes.

De esto he observado dos aspectos, el primero, que muchas personas están con tanta efervescencia de celebrar lo que sea porque estos años de restricciones y medidas de bioseguridad nos tienen cansados, entonces en esta celebración todo está exacerbado (también lo sentí en navidad), claro, las autoridades no se cansan de recordar que se respeten las medidas de bioseguridad todavía, aunque un alto porcentaje de la población ya está vacunada.

En segundo lugar, también he notado que las posibilidades de las personas para dedicar un poquito de su presupuesto para disfraces, decoraciones de carnaval y paseos en los días feriados también está siendo posible de alguna manera que yo no voy a explicar, ni se, pero desde hace 5 años ya era casi imposible para la mayoría y era un lujo muy excéntrico poder lograrlo para nosotros los mortales.
Entonces en suma hay dos cosas: motivación y posibilidades económicas. Ojo la situación aún aprieta, pero creo que las ganas son tan grandes y la necesidad imperante que la gente de alguna manera resuelve, disfruta y vive la vida.

A mi casa llegó el tema de la mano de la escuela de mi hija menor y también de mi trabajo. En la escuela de mi pequeña nos convocaron a participar con nuestros hijos en una comparsa para celebrar el carnaval de este año en la que debíamos acompañar a nuestros pequeños ya que es un preescolar y están muy chicos los niños, porque en Venezuela se acostumbra a que las comparsas son grupos de personas disfrazadas que van desfilando, a veces de una temática acordada que salen a las calles aledañas a dar un paseo lleno de alegría.

Entonces aquí vino la negociación con mi hija de 4 años para decidir de que sería su disfraz, de manera que encontráramos una opción con la que ella se encontrara cómoda, ilusionada y feliz y se tratara de algo asequible económicamente para su papá y para mi y a la vez nos permitiera reforzar algún valor positivo en ella.

Ella me hablaba de super heroínas y princesas y yo buscaba por toda la casa como hacer un disfraz reciclado. Entonces encontré un disfraz de indio que había sido de sus tres hermanos cuando estaban pequeños.
Mi mente se iluminó y comencé a contarle historias sobre nuestros aborígenes y como estos resistieron la penetración del imperio español y que entre ellos se destacaron valerosas mujeres indígenas, lideresas y valerosas guerreras que en los nuevos tiempos hemos ido conociendo y resignificando su valor.

Y he contado a ustedes todo este cuento hasta ahora, para explicarles como me he sentido con la oportunidad de que estas fechas de fiestas me han permitido enseñar a mi hijita sobre la importancia de la lucha de las mujeres para lograr transformaciones en la sociedad. Y de allí el título de este post.

La historia escrita no ha hecho honor en la debida proporción a los sacrificios y el valor de las mujeres en sus luchas inmemoriales, desde la resistencia en la conquista del nuevo mundo, las luchas por la independencia y las luchas por los derechos civiles y democráticos en todos los países en todos los tiempos.

Reconozco que no ha sido nula la referencia, y también reconozco que ha ido mejorando el reconocimiento. Por ejemplo, cuando yo estaba en la escuela nos enseñaron sobre algunas mujeres importantes en la independencia de Venezuela y Latinoamérica como Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, Manuela Saenz y Juana la Avanzadora, también importantes artistas como Frida Kahlo y luchadoras como Rosa Luxemburgo.

Ahora últimamente hemos tenido la dicha de conocer la apasionante historia de nuestras mujeres indígenas prominentes como Apacuana, Piache de la tribu Quiriquire, que se enfrentó a la invasión española en 1574, la lideresa Urquia Marú, compañera del Cacique Guaicaipuro y que hombro a hombro fueron importantes guerreros de la tribu Teques y la hermosa Urimare, valerosa cacica guerrera que lideró una de las primeras rebeliones indígenas del oriente venezolano.

Pero como esto es un post sobre carnaval, por ahora no les dejo más historias y comparto con ustedes algunas imágenes de mi pequeña indígena guerrera en la celebración de su escuela. Si le preguntan de que está disfrazada, les dirá que es una super heroína, la india Apacuana, la jefa de su tribu. Así espero haber sembrado en ella un poco de espíritu rebelde y valeroso y que recuerde este día cuando sea una niña grande.

De su disfraz, como les conté, el traje es herencia de sus hermanos un poco adaptado a ella, el hermoso collar se lo prestó su abuelo y es un regalo que tuvo el honor de recibir en el Delta Amacuro elaborado por indígenas de la etnia Warao El tocado de plumas lo hizo su mamá y son imágenes impresas de freepek, mas un cintillo tejido que le regalo una amiga. Además, lleva un bolsito indígena proveniente de etnias de Bolivia que su abuelo me trajo de un viaje y en el lleva flechas que le hice con pitillos envueltos en imágenes muy lindas también de freepek y un atrapasueños que le regalaron en una fiesta de una amiguita.

Y mientras tanto en la oficina …..
En el trabajo no escaparon del contagio por celebrar carnavales y decidieron que en cada dependencia eligiéramos una reina de carnaval y un rey Momo, así lo hicimos, por decisión unánime escogimos a las personas mas divertidas de la oficina y entre todos les creamos con materia de reciclaje, para la reina un disfraz de árbol araguaney que es nuestro árbol nacional y para el rey un disfraz de indio Cacique.

Todos trajeron algo y entre todos lo hicimos, ya veremos como nos va en el concurso, pero lo importante es que fue muy divertido el proceso.

No pensé que iba a relatar tanto en esta publicación y ahora siento que me quedé corta con muchas ganas de profundizar sobre el papel de las mujeres en nuestra historia latinoamericana y lo que nos falta por jugar.

These days we are getting ready for the carnival celebrations this week the city of Caracas has been full of carnival decorations in its streets and avenues and some cases the traffic has collapsed to make way for the "Comparsas" and caravans that schools organize to celebrate carnival with their students.

I have observed two aspects of this, the first, that many people are so excited to celebrate anything because these years of restrictions and biosecurity measures have made us tired, so in this celebration, everything is exacerbated (I also felt it at Christmas), of course, the authorities do not tire of reminding people to respect the biosecurity measures still, although a high percentage of the population is already vaccinated.

Secondly, I have also noticed that the possibilities of people to dedicate a little bit of their budget for costumes, carnival decorations, and rides on holidays is also being made possible in some way that I will not explain, nor do I know, but for 5 years it was already almost impossible for most and it was a very eccentric luxury for us mortals to be able to achieve it.

So in sum, there are two things: motivation and economic possibilities. The situation is still tight, but I believe that the desire is so great and the need is so imperative that people somehow solve, enjoy and live life.

In my house, the subject came to my house through my youngest daughter's school and also through my work. In my little girl's school, we were called to participate with our children in a "Comparsa" to celebrate this year's carnival in which we had to accompany our little ones since it is a preschool and the children are very young, because in Venezuela it is customary that the "Comparsas" are groups of people in disguise parading through the streets, sometimes of an agreed theme that goes out to the surrounding streets to take a walk full of joy.

So here came the negotiation with my 4-year-old daughter to decide what her costume would be, so that we could find an option that she would be comfortable, excited, and happy with and that would be affordable for her dad and me and at the same time would allow us to reinforce some positive value in her.

She was talking to me about superheroines and princesses and I was looking all over the house for a recycled costume. Then I found an Indian costume that had belonged to her three brothers when they were little.

My mind was enlightened and I began to tell her stories about our aborigines and how they resisted the penetration of the Spanish empire and that among them stood out courageous indigenous women, leaders, and brave warriors that in the new times we have been knowing and resignifying their value.

And I have told you all this story so far, to explain how I have felt with the opportunity that these holidays have allowed me to teach my little daughter about the importance of the struggle of women to achieve transformations in society. And hence the title of this post.

The written history has not honored in due proportion to the sacrifices and courage of women in their immemorial struggles, from the resistance in the conquest of the new world, the struggles for independence, and the struggles for civil and democratic rights in all countries at all times.

I recognize that the reference has not been null and void, and I also recognize that the recognition has been improving. For example, when I was in school we were taught about some important women in the independence of Venezuela and Latin America such as Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, Manuela Saenz, and Juana la Avanzadora, also important artists such as Frida Kahlo, and fighters such as Rosa Luxemburg.

Now lately we have had the joy of knowing the exciting history of our prominent indigenous women like Apacuana, Piache of the Quiriquire tribe, who faced the Spanish invasion in 1574, the leader Urquia Marú, companion of Cacique Guaicaipuro and who shoulder to shoulder were important warriors of the Teques tribe and the beautiful Urimare, brave warrior cacique who led one of the first indigenous rebellions of eastern Venezuela.

But since this is a post about carnival, for now, I won't leave you with any more stories and share with you some pictures of my little indigenous warrior at her school celebration. If you ask her what she is dressed up as, she will tell you that she is a superheroine, the Apacuana Indian, the chief of her tribe. So I hope I have planted in her a little bit of rebellious and courageous spirit and that she will remember this day when she is a big girl.

As I told you about her costume, the costume is an inheritance from her brothers, a little adapted to her, the beautiful necklace was lent to her by her grandfather and is a gift that she had the honor of receiving in the Delta Amacuro, made by indigenous people of the Warao ethnic group. The feather headdress was made by her mother and are printed images of freepek, plus a woven headband is given to her by a friend. She also carries a little indigenous bag from Bolivia that her grandfather brought me from a trip and in it, she carries arrows that I made with straws wrapped in very nice images also from freepek and a dreamcatcher that was given to her at a friend's party.

Meanwhile at the office .....
At work they did not escape the contagion of celebrating carnival and decided that in each department we would choose a carnival queen and a king Momo, so we did, by the unanimous decision we chose the funniest people in the office and together we created them with recycled material, for the queen a costume of Araguaney tree which is our national tree and for the king a costume of Indian Cac

We will see how we do in the contest, but the important thing is that the process was a lot of fun.

I didn't think I was going to write so much in this publication and now I feel that I fell short with a lot of desire to deepen the role of women in our Latin American history and what we have yet to play.
