HIVE OPEN MIC #201 (ENG/ESP): Clouds -"Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 201 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Clouds”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. I found Clouds to be quite a tricky theme to think up easy songs to cover for, but in the end I suggested:

• “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell
• “Get Off of My Cloud” by The Rolling Stones
• “Cloudy Day” by Tones & I

Of these songs, the one I remember singing as a Primary School Child in Singing/Music Class was “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell, as all those lady teachers seemed to love it! The entire first verse and chorus is about clouds, so it shall work perfectly.

What’s cool is that you can be inspired by the version she sang when she was young like this:

Bienvenido a la Semana 201 del Hive Open Mic Challenge. ¡El tema de esta semana es “Nubes”!

Encontré que Clouds era un tema bastante complicado para pensar en canciones fáciles de cubrir, pero al final sugerí:

• “Ambos lados ahora” de Joni Mitchell
• “Bájate de mi nube” de The Rolling Stones
• “Día nublado” de Tones & I

De estas canciones, la que recuerdo haber cantado cuando era niño de escuela primaria en la clase de canto/música fue “Both Sides Now” de Joni Mitchell, ¡ya que a todas esas maestras parecía encantarles! Todo el primer verso y el estribillo trata sobre las nubes, por lo que funcionará perfectamente.

Lo bueno es que puedes inspirarte en la versión que cantaba cuando era joven, así:
