Una de esas canciones es «It's Now or Never» escrita por Aaron Schroeder y Wally Gold.
I recently watched Elvis Presley's 2022 movie starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, it seemed like an incredible biographical and musical production. I love watching movies that narrate historical events, and then checking it against verified documents. The film industry often tends to misrepresent some events in this type of film, to make them more attractive and keep the viewer anchored to controversial plots or sensitive issues. Elvis Presley, called the King of Rock and Roll is a cultural icon that has impacted a generation and generations after. Many of the songs sung by Elvis were influenced by African-American artists, and from other parts of the world. One of those songs is "It's Now or Never" written by Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold. This piece of traditional Pop music is an adaptation of a popular Italian song called “O Sole Mio” composed by Eduardo di Capua in 1898. Surely you have had the opportunity to listen to Luciano Pavarotti's version or one of the most recent with Il. I fly in Italian. Today I share my interpretation with the trumpet.
Thanks to the voice and fame achieved by Elvis, many songs became popular. I don't remember if there was any litigation for copyright claims of any song, if anyone knows of a legal lawsuit for plagiarism, you can tell me. What I do know is that some songs after the author's death continue to belong to him until they are 70 years old or more. At that time the song becomes public domain. This varies according to the laws in each country. Imagine someone claiming that you copied Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I recently made a video where I performed a song by Carlos Gardel and I posted it on Instagram, they were making a claim for the rights. It occurred to me to appeal the decision and introduce some arguments such as the year of his death, the time elapsed, and some criteria of Argentine law. They made the decision to approve my public domain video. Later I will share in a podcast about the plagiarism of musical works. Good things are coming, stay tuned.
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
When I first saw you
With your smile so tender
My heart was captured
My soul surrendered
I spent a lifetime
Waiting for the right time
Now that you're near
The time is here, at last
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
Just like a willow
We would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
And sweet devotion
Your lips excite me
Let your arms invite me
For who knows when
We'll meet again this way
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
It's now or never
My love won't wait
It's now or never
My love won't wait
It's now or never
My love won't wait
