Viajera del Río - Manuel Yánez (Cover) [ENG/SPA]

He tenido la experiencia de disfrutar de diferentes puestas de sol en Ciudad Bolívar, desde el despertar del alba, hasta un atardecer. Me encantaba caminar por las orillas del río Orinoco, y por el casco histórico. Esa bella ciudad congelada en el tiempo tiene lugares de valor histórico como la Casa Angostura, y la Casa de Correo del Orinoco. Recuerdo ver el Puente Angostura y las lanchas cruzar al pueblo de Soledad. El río Orinoco es imponente, y con una diversidad en flora y fauna increíble. Hoy quiero compartir mi interpretación con la trompeta de «Viajera del río», un vals venezolano compuesto por Manuel Yánez. Esta canción es considerada un emblema y un himno de la ciudad, y fue inspirado cuando el autor estaba en el malecón y observaba las plantas acuáticas características del río, conocidas como Lirio de Agua. Encontré una partitura de la canción, sin embargo, no pude tocarla en esa tonalidad. Esta se encuentra en La Mayor y comienza en el 5.º grado, también conocido como Dominante. Me toco hacer un transporte mental y tocarla en Re Mayor, comenzando con el 5.º grado de la escala.

I have had the experience of enjoying different sunsets in Ciudad Bolívar, from dawn to sunset. I loved walking along the banks of the Orinoco River, and through the historic center. This beautiful city frozen in time has places of historical value such as Casa Angostura, and the Casa de Correo del Orinoco. I remember seeing the Angostura Bridge and the boats crossing to the town of Soledad. The Orinoco River is impressive, and with an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. Today I want to share my interpretation with the trumpet of "Viajera del río", a Venezuelan waltz composed by Manuel Yánez. This song is considered an emblem and an anthem of the city, and was inspired when the author was on the boardwalk and observed the characteristic aquatic plants of the river, known as Lirio de Agua. I found sheet music for the song, however I couldn't play it in that key. This is in A Major and begins in the 5th degree, also known as the Dominant. I had to do a mental transport and play it in D Major, starting with the 5th degree of the scale.

Muchas veces he escuchado que la vida es un viaje, donde hay un destino y un propósito. Lo maravilloso de viajar es que tienes la oportunidad de aprender de la cultura, las tradiciones y de la historia de los lugares que llegas. Vale la pena viajar para descubrir que el mundo es más grande de lo que pensamos. Aunque la vida sea un viaje, el propósito de la vida a mi parecer no es viajar, no vaya a ser que salgamos corriendo de un lado al otro como Forrest Gump para descubrir que allí no estaba la felicidad. Viajar es complementario para una vida feliz. Pienso que es una fantasía de la juventud salir a conocer al mundo, cuando también hay cosas más importantes que hacer, como por ejemplo prepararse, o tener una familia. Yo respeto mucho las decisiones de las personas, yo soy feliz porque conozco el destino de mi viaje, y mi propósito.

Many times I have heard that life is a journey, where there is a destination and a purpose. The wonderful thing about traveling is that you have the opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions and history of the places you arrive at. It is worth traveling to discover that the world is bigger than we think. Although life is a journey, the purpose of life in my opinion is not to travel, lest we run from one place to the other like Forrest Gump to discover that happiness was not there. Traveling is complementary to a happy life. I think it's a youthful fantasy to go out and see the world, when there are also more important things to do, such as getting ready, or having a family. I respect people's decisions a lot, I am happy because I know the destination of my trip, and my purpose.
