A warm greeting to all the participants of this weekly contest in the #Vibes community. As I write these lines, I want to praise the work of each of you. It has been a wonderful experience listening to many of you. At this time when I write these words, the winners of the first week are already known. To them my total recognition for their talent and their work. I am sure that it was not an easy task for the judges and that the number of contestants has been completely overwhelming. These experiences are significant and are of great learning. Today I want to participate with my trumpet and perform "Habanera de Carmen" by Georges Bizet. This musical piece is an aria for mezzo-soprano from the first act of the French opera Carmen, composed in 1875. It is also known as L'amour est un oiseau rebelle. The lyrics were written by Prosper Mérimée and talk about love like a rebellious bird that cannot be controlled. I love its sensual and passionate character, with a habanera rhythm that is both seductive and disturbing. The habanera is a rhythm of Cuban origin that had its peak during the romanticism of the 19th and 20th centuries. In particular, it sounds a lot like tango to me and I have had the opportunity to listen to it in the theater, in the cinema and on television.

Un saludo cordial a todos los participantes de este concurso semanal en la comunidad de #Vibes. Al redactar estas líneas, quiero elogiar el trabajo de cada uno de ustedes. Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa escuchar a muchos de ustedes. A estas horas en que escribo estas palabras ya se conocen los ganadores de la primera semana. A ellos mi total reconocimiento por su talento y su trabajo. Estoy seguro de que no fue tarea fácil para los jueces y que ha sido totalmente abrumadora la cantidad de concursantes. Estas experiencias son significativas y son de gran aprendizaje. Hoy deseo participar con mi trompeta e interpretar «Habanera de Carmen» de Georges Bizet. Esta pieza musical es un aria para mezzosoprano del primer acto de la ópera francesa Carmen, compuesta en 1875. Es conocida también como L'amour est un oiseau rebelle. La letra fue escrita por Prosper Mérimée y habla del amor como un pájaro rebelde que no se puede controlar. Me encanta su carácter sensual y apasionado, con un ritmo de habanera que es a la vez seductor e inquietante. La habanera es un ritmo de origen cubano y que tuvo su auge durante el romanticismo de los siglos XIX y XX. Particularmente, se me parece mucho al tango y he tenido la oportunidad de escucharla en el teatro, en el cine y en la televisión.
