Este año 2022 ha sido fatal para el boxeo, no hemos tenido una sola pelea de gran relevancia, lo cual es absolutamente preocupante y mucho más cuando el nivel de pelea viene disminuyendo, año tras año. No estoy diciendo que sean peleas aburridas, hablo de batallas interesantes, duelos que deseen ver los fanáticos y que generen mucho ruido por las redes. Lo más llamativo fue Canelo Álvarez contra Gennady Golovkin, una pelea que para muchos fue aburrida y que no tuvo repercusión por el flojo desempeño del Kazajistán.

Una crítica constante hacia el boxeo, viene de no enfrentarse los mejores contra los mejores, situación que si ocurre en la UFC y que tiene a todos sus fanáticos contentos. Entiendo que el negocio es diferente, la UFC tiene control de todos los peleadores y en el boxeo es totalmente lo opuesto. Aquí tenemos varias empresas, muchos promotores y por ende hay tantos campeones en la misma categoría. El interés por el dinero es grande, pero deben hacer algo, porque están creando un enorme vacío y están perdiendo muchísimos seguidores del boxeo.

The interest for the money is great, but they must do something, because they are creating a huge void and they are losing a lot of boxing fans.

El youtuber Jake Paul realizo una pelea contra Anderson Silva, espectáculo que vendió alrededor de 250-300 mil PPV, mientras que Deontay Wilder solamente pudo vender 75 mil PPV en su reciente combate. ¿Cómo puede suceder esto? En mi opinión, las personas han perdido el interés, no desean pagar por ver peleas de bajo calibre y prefieren consumir el entretenimiento que ofrece Jake Paul. Y observando que el Canelo Álvarez también ha bajado sus ventas, parece que estamos ante un momento crítico para el boxeo, donde su mayor figura está presentado perdidas para el negocio y esto habla de lo mal que está la disciplina.

También se habló de Ryan García contra Gervonta Davis y tampoco lo tendremos. Mientras los mejores no peleen contra los mejores, los números del boxeo seguirán cayendo y ya es momento de levantarse. La UFC ha realizado hasta el momento 10 eventos de PPV, los cuales todos se han vendido a máxima capacidad y rondan los 300 mil PPV por evento. Este año las MMA les han dado un cachetazo a un boxeo que está a punto de ser noqueado. Para mí no ha muerto el boxeo, pero si están dormidos y deben reaccionar muy pronto.
