Hello Open Mic community, welcome to week #159 of our weekly concert which is pressure free. I trust everyone is doing good, For this week's theme "A good friend" as chosen by my funny friend and recent spotlight artiste @jesus-son, I'd be performing a classic by legend Bill Withers called Lean on Me. Bill Withers was an American singer-songwriter who died in the year 2020 at the age of 81. Lean on me was released in the year 1972, years before I was born and I'm sure some of us here as well. The song carries a lot of relevance that it's still a really popular song till date and it's arguably Wither's most famous song.

I have chosen this song because it really goes in line with the theme for this week (A good friend). A good friend is someone you can rely on, someone you can lean on and someone you can be vulnerable to. A good friend never takes you for granted nor ever mocks you due to your situation, He's always there for you and happy to help. The message of Lean on me I believe is the need to open up and speak up because no one is an island, we all have what we are going through respectively and we need those that can assist us in these times to make life easier for us. Some part of the song says;

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain
We all have sorrow....

This shows that no one is immune to pain nor sorrow, but then we can lessen the pain and burden just by seeking help from the right people and hope for a better tomorrow. The song also pleads with listeners in the second verse of the song, Please swallow your pride if I have things you need to borrow...Rather than die in silence than asking me, please ask me, I wouldn't really know what you're going through or battling with If you don't speak up no matter who I am to you. I can only just have an idea but might not know the full story even as your friend, please reach out to me and I promise to help if I can. That's what good friends do, always supporting each other, covering each other's lapses. We don't have it all, and we don't know it all, let's all co-exist in love, peace and harmony. Life is too short to die in silence over something that can be easily worked on if only you speak out. Then comes the bridge of the song which is my favourite part of the song;

You just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem

We all need somebody to lean on.....

Hola comunidad Open Mic, bienvenidos a la semana #159 de nuestro concierto semanal que es libre de presión. Confío en que a todos les vaya bien. Para el tema de esta semana "Un buen amigo", elegido por mi divertido amigo y reciente artista destacado @jesus-son, interpretaría un clásico de la leyenda Bill Withers llamado Lean on Me. Bill Withers fue un cantautor estadounidense que murió en el año 2020 a la edad de 81 años. Lean on me fue lanzado en el año 1972, años antes de que yo naciera y estoy seguro de que algunos de nosotros aquí también. La canción tiene mucha relevancia porque sigue siendo una canción muy popular hasta la fecha y podría decirse que es la canción más famosa de Wither.

He escogido esta canción porque realmente va en línea con el tema de esta semana (Un buen amigo). Un buen amigo es alguien en quien puedes confiar, alguien en quien puedes apoyarte y alguien ante quien puedes ser vulnerable. Un buen amigo nunca te da por sentado ni se burla de ti debido a tu situación, siempre está ahí para ti y feliz de ayudarte. El mensaje de Apóyate en mí creo que es la necesidad de abrirse y hablar porque nadie es una isla, todos tenemos lo que estamos pasando respectivamente y necesitamos aquellos que nos pueden ayudar en estos tiempos para hacernos la vida más fácil. . Una parte de la canción dice;

Todos tenemos pena....

Esto demuestra que nadie es inmune al dolor ni a la pena, pero podemos aliviar el dolor y la carga simplemente buscando ayuda de las personas adecuadas y esperando un mañana mejor. La canción también suplica a los oyentes en la segunda estrofa de la canción: Por favor, traga tu orgullo si tengo cosas que necesitas pedir prestadas... En lugar de morir en silencio que preguntarme, por favor pregúntame, realmente no sabría lo que quieres. estás pasando o luchando con Si no hablas sin importar quién soy para ti. Solo puedo tener una idea, pero es posible que no conozca la historia completa, incluso si soy su amigo, comuníquese conmigo y prometo ayudarlo si puedo.
