How lucky I am to be able to participate in this fourth edition at the #mih, Hive Music Festival from the beginning. It was a great honour for me to participate with two entries in the previous edition, so I continue to play for this festival with a lot of love. The way you accepted me left me breathless, thank you very much, everyone, for the kind comments and support. Thanks to the jury for the positive evaluation, it means a lot to me. Knowing that this week will be full of commitments and posts for Hive, I have already prepared this video for week 12, the first round.
I'm am playing a piece called Spanish Dance. It is a study number 6 from the series Studies in Phrasing, op 509. The compositor is Charles Fradel, born in Vienna in 1821. He lived and worked as a music teacher for several years in New York, and London as well. The main works are focused on piano pieces and song.
The form is three-part, the middle part is a contrast to the first and third part. The main feature of the first part is the repetition of the note, in triplets, which requires the dexterity of the fingers in combination with a relaxed hand. The second part requires a major technique, i.e. playing in octaves in the right hand and jumping in chords in the left hand. It was fun to learn this composition and perform it for this occasion. I hope you enjoy it too.
