It's week #168 on hiveopenmic. I am @rukkie and this week's theme is titled "Música para Niños" which translates to "Music for Children". Thanks to @aly.squid for choosing this beautiful theme as it took me down memory lane. For this theme, I will be presenting a lullaby titled: "Oh Little Baby".

Children are beautiful gifts from God and every parent bundle of joy. They are good at making everyone around them smile from ear to ear just by looking at how cute they are but one thing these newborn babies are not too good at is sleeping at night.

For first-time mums, babies can be a handful but it helps when these mums are surrounded with people who can help and support them.

While growing up, I was used to having newborn babies around me from time to time. I have a large extended family and often time, whenever one of my uncle's wife put to bed, the new mom and baby usually come to our place. My mum is very good at taking care of both of them and it's usually all peaceful until late at night when the real work begins which is when the baby would decide none of us should sleep.

In cases like this, we will have to turn to singing lullabies to help soothe the baby, we all take turns in composing new songs that now that I think of it if I had recorded all the songs my mum and I have had to compose, we would have made quite a fortune from it by now.

Most of these songs help calm the baby but this one I am presenting did wonders in calming them, my mum always sings it and in no time, the baby will sleep off. That way, everyone can also rest including the new mom.

The song goes thus;

Es la semana #168 en hiveopenmic. Soy @rukkie y el tema de esta semana se titula "Música para Niños". Gracias a @aly.squid por elegir este tema tan bonito que me ha hecho viajar al pasado. Para este tema, voy a presentar una canción de cuna titulada: "Oh Little Baby".

Los niños son hermosos regalos de Dios y cada paquete de alegría de los padres. Hacen sonreír de oreja a oreja a todos los que les rodean con sólo ver lo monos que son, pero hay algo que a estos recién nacidos no se les da demasiado bien: dormir por la noche.

Para las madres primerizas, los bebés pueden ser una pesadilla, pero ayuda mucho que estén rodeadas de gente que las ayude y las apoye.

Mientras crecía, estaba acostumbrada a tener bebés recién nacidos a mi alrededor de vez en cuando. Tengo una gran familia y, a menudo, cuando la mujer de uno de mis tíos se acuesta, la madre y el bebé vienen a casa. Mi madre es muy buena cuidando de los dos y todo suele ser tranquilo hasta que llega la noche y empieza el verdadero trabajo, que es cuando el bebé decide que ninguno de nosotros debe dormir.

En casos así, tenemos que recurrir a cantar canciones de cuna para ayudar a calmar al bebé, todos nos turnamos para componer nuevas canciones que, ahora que lo pienso, si hubiera grabado todas las canciones que mi madre y yo hemos tenido que componer, ya habríamos ganado una fortuna con ello.

La mayoría de estas canciones ayudan a calmar al bebé, pero esta que presento hizo maravillas para calmarlo, mi madre siempre la canta y en un santiamén, el bebé se duerme. Así, todos pueden descansar, incluida la nueva mamá.
