#hiveopenmic week 63: Storyteller.
I loved this theme, if someday I was to choose, i'll choose this same idea. Its nice to tell a story with the music sustain and rythm flowing. And a special rythm for this, on which many many stories have been told, is Milonga.
In one of my travels in Asia I met this character Janis, and I showed this rythm from the south of América: "Janis, Milonga this Is" I told her.
Its her story seen through my eyes. Here the translated words:
There goes Janis
Guitar under her arm, always
Draining the last glass now
In laughing and Tagalog she walks
And the streets of the village
As Janis goes by, they light up
It's the voice of an angel
Tanned in drink and cigar
The nights of El Nido
find her singing
To tourism in Maculay
And tomorrow at the Frenchman's bar
The one who sells Italian food
From Little Italy
Generous in the tagay
Today she'll have breakfast before she starts
"We have to eat something first ... You know ..."
She comments in front of the rice
The dried fish
The bundle of Fortune butts
And the Tanduay rum flask
She doesn't even remember maybe
That time when an Englishman arrived
And in the port he disembarked
And he took the little girl
Get to know London
Get to know Paris
But the lives of others do not work
Right Janis?
Janis Janis, Milonga this is
Janis janis, milunga you say
Philipine gypsy today she is moving again
She always finds a new place
To leave the dreams and the debt of the month
While your Mama runs her Old Resort
And your brother drives around in his new car
Today Janis your refuge is the night
Companion of her partner until the end
She never goes alone if she is not with him
And there they go both grumbling
Gesturing they go
In the daily effort
Not to break with what was agreed
Enchanted by an African rhythm
Brought by an uruguayan
From a very distant land
And that her hand in rhythm
She rang in Corón Corón
At the time the sun goes down
The key of the King Drum
She doesn't even remember maybe
That time when an Englishman arrived
And in the port she disembarked
And he took the little girl
Get to know London
Get to know Paris
But the lives of others do not work
It is like this ..
Janis Janis, Milonga this is
Janis janis, milunga you say
That's the story of Janis as I saw it in my days in El Nido (Palawan-Phillipines).
Cheers to all Hiveans, never mind the down in the price, Hive will Thrive!
#hiveopenmic semana 63: Narrador.
Del Little Italy
Generosa en el tagay
Hoy desayuna antes de empezar
"Tenemos que comer algo antes ... Ya sabes ..."
Comenta frente al arroz
Al pescado seco
Al atado de puchos Fortune
Y la petaca de ron Tanduay
Ya ni se acuerda tal vez
Aquel tiempo en que llegó un inglés
Y en el puerto desembarcó
Y a la flaquita se la llevó
A conocer Londres
A conocer París
Pero las vidas ajenas no resultan
¿Cierto Janis?
Janis Janis, Milonga esto es
Janis janis, milunga decís
Gitana filipina hoy se muda otra vez
Siempre encuentra nuevo lugar
Mientras tu Mamá regentea su Old Resort
A conocer Londres
A conocer París
