The Episode Eight of the Injured Badger Hole Adventures compiles days 10, 11 and 12 of my trips to the sett of the injured badger. Each day I am greeted by woodpecker Decker who keeps me company pretty much every step of the way.
Since so far there has been no sighting of the badger since he was last captured on the trail camera injured and limping, I stopped bringing more food to the burrow because all it’s achieved was feed the wood rats.
None of the food brought to the sett so far has attracted the badger, which after almost two weeks, very strongly suggests that he most probably hasn’t survived the debilitating injury.
The temperatures keep dipping below freezing, but on some days the sun still comes out, which makes the trips enjoyable, but filming is challenging because I can hardly feel my fingers as I operate the camera.
On Day 12 I captured a trip of Roe Deer running up a slope. Those were not the chill family seen I the previously published video.
I recognize that the trail cam footage of the rats is not all that exciting, so I keep the compilation of the videos from the trail camera short. This time I shrunk it to just 30 seconds and I used a short guitar solo of mine that I performed – it’s a guitar rendition of The Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.
At the end of Day 12, I spotted a fly on a tree trunk and it attracted my attention because it was -6 degrees Celsius outside. When it’s so far below zero, it’s unusual to see insects about. Not sure what hat fly was thinking but being a cold blooded creature, it could barely move, so I could get closeup footage of it. No idea why it wasn’t hibernated someplace.
