Para muchos el mejor campeón en la historia del ajedrez, el señor Gari Kaspárov es para mi el máximo exponente de la apertura siciliana y como él la juega aún no he visto al primero, esto no quiere decir que no ha perdido partidas con esta apertura y es una de las que les traigo hoy, en el año 1996 se jugaba en New York el campeonato mundial de de ajedrez en partidas Blizt que es muy aparte del campeonato del mundo que es llevado a cabo en partidas clásicas.

en aquel tiempo Kaspárov era el campeón del mundo oficial y disputaba en ese periodo la final de partidas Blizt contra Viswanathan Anand quien a lo largo de su carrera a logrado ser pentacampeón del mundo, en la última ronda Anand lleva las piezas blancas y el ruso las negras, como es de esperar jugó su siciliana pero aunque en esta partida perdió demostró que fue porque realmente Anand jugó mejor o al menos movió las piezas de forma correcta en todo momento.

Kaspárov se da cuenta que tomar el peón en b4 sería un suicidio ya que esto dejaría sin casilla de escapa a su Dama, aun perdiendo la partida lo hace de una manera espectacular.

Termina rindiendose porque e percata que la diferencia de material es mucha y causa gran ventaja para Anand quien después de culminar la partida y coronarse como campeón afirmó que "solo movió sus piezas correctamente en cada movimiento que hizo".

For many the best champion in the history of chess, Mr. Gari Kasparov is for me the greatest exponent of the Sicilian opening and as he plays it I have not yet seen the first, this does not mean that he has not lost games with this opening and is one of those that I bring you today, in 1996 was played in New York the world chess championship in Blizt games which is quite apart from the world championship that is held in classical games.

Kasparov realizes that taking the pawn on b4 would be suicide since this would leave his Queen without an escape square, even losing the game he does it in a spectacular way.

He ends up giving up because he realizes that the difference in material is too much and causes great advantage for Anand who after finishing the game and being crowned champion affirmed that "he only moved his pieces correctly in every move he made ".
