En 1849 Morphy estaba cumpliendo 12 años y como le gustaba mucho el ajedrez lo llevaron al club de ajedrez de New Orleans a jugar una partida con el campeón de dicho club lo mejor de todo esto más allá de que era un niño es que en esta partida Morphy decidió tener los ojos vendados tras un gambito de Rey aceptado Morphy decide sacrificar su caballo en f7 con una intensión clara aparte de atacar a la Dama negra y la Torre, el plan es extraer al Rey enemigo hacia el campo de batalla

Más adelante en la partida Morphy decide sacrificar la Torre dando un jaque casi mortal lo que permite la entrada de la Dama blanca en la octava fila terminando de limitar al Rey negro

Lo que me impresiona es la gran capacidad de la memoria de Morphy y debo decir que les recomiendo leer su biografía según dice la historia "él podía recitar de memoria el código civil de Luisiana", me sorprende mucho la capacidad mental que tenía tristemente esto le trajo problemas mentales y al igual que Fisher las neuronas le jugaron una mala pasada, volviendo al tema, Morphy termina rematando la partida de una manera que no tengo palabras para explicar cómo alguien con sus ojos vendados puede jugar así.

Tras Cd5+ el campeón del club de ajedrez de apellido Rousseu termina rindiéndose porque queda en la posición en la que ¿o tedan jaque mate? ¿o pierdes la Dama? y en esta posición tanto el sacrificio de Caballo a inicios de la partida como el de la Torre a finales de la misma quedan totalmente justificados.

Una vez le preguntaron a Alexander Alekhine ex campeón del mundo sobre Paul Morphy a lo que él dijo "Él nació muy adelantado para la época en que vivió" porque genios como Paul Morphy son los que dejan su huella para toda la historia.
