Hello my dear friends of this beautiful family of the Hive Open Mic, once again I am with you @nellynohemi to present my entry to week 152 with the theme "Traditional Music" selected by the featured artist @bertrayo great musician and cuatrista loved by this community, greetings Today I will perform for you a merengue written by Luis Laguna entitled "Creole Candies", this time accompanied by my nephew Carlos Calderón on the cuatro. I hope everyone likes it.
Creole Candies is a merengue that was recorded by Maestro Jesús Sevillano in his Anthology Album, volume 4 in 1996, the author of which is Luis Laguna, a Venezuelan musician and composer. Other great artists also recorded this song such as Ilán Chester, the Orfeón academic of the Central University of Venezuela (U.C.V), together with the Orquesta Típica de Venezuela, Simón Díaz among others.
Luis Laguna, born in Guacara, Aragua State, Venezuela, moved to Maracay, Aragua State with his family since he was little, where he grew up and studied. He was self-taught and stood out as a guitarist and composer creating his own style in his contemporary harmonies and rhythms. He is the author of many Venezuelan waltzes and joropos and Caracas merengue. Among his songs we can name Criollisima, Creole Candies, El saltarín, Nathalia, Serenade, An ice cream man with Class, among others. He died in 1984 in Maracay at the age of 58.
Immediately upon learning about the theme I remembered one of his songs such as Creole Candies because it tells the story of those people, almost always women who sell these sweets from our Venezuelan gastronomy in the squares, cinemas and are still kept in the towns. where we can see the great variety of those sweet traditions. According to the States of Venezuela, gastronomy in various Creole sweets. Here I leave this link where it describes them: Fundacionbigott.
I want to clarify that in the link or source of the lyrics there is a small review that describes the sweets named in the song so that people who do not know it have an idea of what they are like and ends with the lyrics.
Also, and with the permission of the curators, to express my congratulations, gratitude and happiness to the organizers of the "Talent Sound Music" Festival held in February on Love and Friendship where my person and several colleagues from this organization were selected, voted and winners. Hive Open Mic family in both the vocals and instrumentalists category. Proud of you my dear friends and family.

Golosinas Criollas
Vengan muchachos, viejos
Vengan temprano porque me voy.

Creole Candies
The Alfondoque, milky sweet,
The weakling, Carato e'maiz
Conserva e'coco, sweet grapefruit,
The tasty naiboa and the cambur pasao
They proclaimed them all over the town
And in trays they were going to sell
In movie theaters, according to your taste
And from a great assortment you could choose
They were very popular, they always used to sing
Eat your candy, don't be a pichirre, come buy
For just a little bit, I give a good package
Come on boys, old
Come early because I'm leaving.
