Hello Lovely People and African Music Lovers. How do you do? I hope you are doing great. It is a pleasure to be out here once again to celebrate African Music with you guys as we do every week on this platform.

The trend right now in the musical sphere, for those who are current in the musical ambience, is that Afro beat or I could say Afritunes is the next Big thing. So lets keep Celebrating this next big thing together, hahaha.

Without further ado, I wish to bring us today, a song that I had known for a very long time. I have also sang this song for a very long time but I never paid attention to the words. I believed that since it is originally in my native language, I need not pay attention to it. I only knew this when it came to my mind to present the song to you guys, then I knew I had to go back and review the words again.

It is a song by a legendary choir master in the the Nigerian catholic choir sphere. Due to his numerous compositions, he has come to bear the name ANCESTOR. One could Imagine why he has earned such a name.

The title of the song is SOROMTOOCHUKWU, which literary translate to Praise God with me. I need not explain what the song is about, the title is super self explanatory.

PERFORMANCE

1. First I played the song singing in first voice with my guitar against a looped percussion I created with my voice.

2. I played a corresponding bass line to the song in order to give it a typical Naija choir vibe.

3. I recorded a second voice, I guess that was tenor(I could be wrong as I am not a choir expert, hahaha)

4. finally, I added some typical highlife lead guitar melodies.
