EsterilizaMOs a Nilah [ESP/ENG]

Hace un mes hice este post anunciando el primer celo de Nilah, como ahí mencioné, ha sido una experiencia totalmente nueva y extraña para nosotros porque nunca habíamos experimentado algo así; nuestro plan era esterilizar a la niña antes de que le viniera su primer celo pero al detectarle las hernias, la operación debía ser especial para solo tener que abrirla una sola vez así que eso nos retrasó bastante los planes porque el costo de la operación era algo elevado aunque no descabellado.

Mi Mo @dimeilaz y yo estuvimos ahorrando para su operación pero no es ningún secreto que ahorrar en Venezuela es bastante difícil por lo impredecible que puede ser todo, hoy puedes ahorrar 100$ pero mañana sale una emergencia o imprevisto y los utilizas; esto me pasó a mi con múltiples cosas pero ya la operación de la niña no se podía posponer más así que mi Mosi hizo un esfuerzo y cubrió la operación. Esta es la segunda vez que esterilizó a un gato pero es totalmente diferente cuando se trata de una hembra y más esta operación debido a que la incisión fue hecha en el abdomen, lo que aumenta un poco el riesgo debido a que es una zona que está en constante movimiento y, literalmente, se le pueden salir las viseras.

La operación fue rápida, 30 min más una hora en supervisión mientras se despertaba un poco, nos la entregaron despierta pero muy desorientada y asustada, me dio mucho sentimiento verla en ese estado; de camino a casa se quedó dormida en mi pecho, me orinó bastante pero realmente era algo a lo que ya estaba preparada y tampoco me molesta en lo absoluto, para los que me conocen saben que mis mascotas no son solo animales sino que son mis hijos.

Nilah ha estado durmiendo toda la tarde, ahorita, mientras escribo este post, se despertó muy asustada y se volvió a orinar pero yo ya había tomado mis previsiones; ahorita está en ese limbo entre querer despertar y levantarse pero no tener el control de su cuerpo ni la fuerza, estoy muy al pendiente de ella para que no se vaya a lamer o que hacer un mal movimiento. Sé que no está bien sobreproteger a los hijos/animales pero no puedo evitarlo, más en estos casos que están sumamente indefensos, asustados, desorientados y adoloridos, sé que ella va a salir muy bien de todo este proceso pero nosotros estaremos muy cerquita de ella mientras.

A month ago I made this post announcing Nilah's first heat, as I mentioned there, it has been a totally new and strange experience for us because we had never experienced anything like this; our plan was to sterilize the girl before her first heat but when her hernias were detected, the operation had to be special to only have to open her up once so that delayed our plans a lot because the cost of the operation was somewhat high but not unreasonable.

My Mo @dimeilaz and I were saving for her operation but it is no secret that saving in Venezuela is quite difficult because of how unpredictable everything can be, today you can save $100 but tomorrow an emergency or unforeseen event comes up and you use it; this happened to me with multiple things but the operation of the girl could not be postponed any longer so my Mosi made an effort and covered the operation. This is the second time I have sterilized a cat but it is totally different when it is a female and even more this operation because the incision was made in the abdomen, which increases the risk a little bit because it is an area that is in constant movement and, literally, the visors can come off.

The operation was quick, 30 min plus an hour in supervision while she woke up a little, they gave her to us awake but very disoriented and scared, it gave me a lot of feeling to see her in that state; on the way home she fell asleep on my chest, she peed a lot but it was really something I was already prepared for and it doesn't bother me at all, for those who know me they know that my pets are not only animals but they are my children.

Nilah has been sleeping all afternoon, now, as I write this post, she woke up very scared and peed again but I had already taken my precautions; now she is in that limbo between wanting to wake up and get up but not having control of her body or strength, I am very aware of her so she doesn't lick herself or make a bad move. I know it's not right to overprotect children/animals but I can't help it, even more in these cases when they are extremely defenseless, scared, disoriented and in pain, I know she will come out of this process very well but we will be very close to her in the meantime.
