If I had the extraordinary opportunity to meet my favorite fictional character, I know it might come as a surprise to many. Most people would likely choose a protagonist, a hero, or a beloved character without any blemishes. However, I find myself drawn to the complex and intriguing nature of villains, and in this case, my favorite fictional character is none other than Jack from "Lord of the Flies by William Golding"

    Lord of the Flies

Going back to my secondary school days, I remember reading "Lord of the Flies” by William Golding during my SS One year. The novel left a lasting impression on me, and Jack, the antagonist, stood out as a character I both admired and loathed. His charisma, cunningness, and fierce determination to survive in the face of adversity captured my imagination like no other.

Don’t mind the picture … I created that all by myself and everything there symbolizes and represents everything you need to know about Jack Merridew. Just a few description about him to give you an insight of his personality : He’s a dictator. Cunning , ruthless, determined, manipulative, compelling , intriguing and provocative. He is just not someone you can hate entirely besides no one is perfect 🤗.

So if I were to meet Jack in real life, I would approach the encounter with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. While his actions in the novel were undoubtedly ruthless and at times terrifying, I would be eager to understand the motivations and complexities that drove him to become the formidable leader of his tribe.

One aspect of Jack's character that intrigued me was his unwavering belief in survival at all costs. In the wild, he adapted to the harsh environment and prioritized the immediate needs of his group. Despite his questionable decisions, I couldn't help but admire his determination to overcome challenges and protect those he considered his own.

Rightfully, I would’ve loved to teach him nigerian music , go on tours or cinemas or teach him different dialects but then its personality and uniqueness is something I can’t shy away from and is willingly to know. I would be eager to delve into the darker corners of his mind, attempting to understand the experiences and circumstances that shaped his path. I would want to explore the vulnerabilities and insecurities that lay beneath his hardened exterior, asking different and certain questions on some certain decisions he made as a character.

Hopefully if I’m able to understand his perspective , I would come to recognize the universal human struggle between civilization and savagery. I might find myself contemplating the thin line that separates the so-called "good" and "bad" in all of us, and how circumstances can shape our choices in unexpected ways ( as individuals ; situations of life bring the “bad side” of us)

However, I would also remain cautious during this meeting because I know Jack's capacity for violence and manipulation was evident in the novel, and I would be mindful of the potential dangers in getting too close to such a character. Inasmuch as I would love him to find redemption as being the antagonist in the novel , I would also love to see him in any other fictional stories again and again.

In the end meeting Jack would be an unforgettable experience.Although I do not agree with all actions, the encounter would undoubtedly challenge my perceptions allow me to see the world from anoyher angle. Fictional characters like Jack have the power of introspection and contemplation, reminding us that the life is vast with good and evil( the fact that every person has a dual character) only situations we find ourselves place us on which one.

Reflecting on this is unlikely encounter, I remind myself that literature holds a deeper depths in human life and understanding and even if it doesn’t come into reality , the imaginative experience has created it’s own lasting experience.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day.
