Why is it so hard to meditate? In this video I talk I give the following rundown:
In the Chinese Mahayana Chan Buddhist teachings of the Sixth Patrich Master Huineng, he expounds this in his "Platform Sutra" (which you may find online, even the English translations):
*The wind was flapping a temple flag, and two were having an argument about it.
One said, "The flag is moving."
The other said, "The wind is moving."
They argued back and forth but could not reach the truth.
The sixth patriarch [Huineng] said, "It is not the wind that moves. It is not the flag that moves. It is your mind that moves."
The two monks were stuck with awe.
