Hello, Hive Learners community! Good evening, and welcome to another creative-sunday edition.

The video uploaded to this post was from earlier today at church. We sang the song Ore Ofe by Rotimikeys for our ministration, and we sang along with live instruments played by the instrumentalist in my church.

I had to use bandlab splitter to split the vocal and instrumental so that the volume would be managed. I audio output isn't perfect, but I thought to share it it to compliment my post.

So, on Thursday last week, I decided to reach out to a vocal coach I had known since March 2023 and told him that I wanted a personal session so as to work on improving areas I experience challenges when singing. After negotiation and deal sealed, we had the first session on Friday last week. He showed me things to do and exercises to always do, which ofcourse I have been doing. His name is Toby Jonah, the link will take you to his profile page.

🙂 Today is the first Sunday in May, and in my church, we usually do a lot of singing. It's one of those Sundays where we do more praises, and since today was our thanksgiving service, we sang a lot of praise (like I mentioned earlier).

However, on days like this, after singing for hours, I usually return home with a painful sore throat. In fact, when that happens, speaking well proves to be difficult too, and even when I push myself to sing or speak more, you would be able to hear the coarseness in my voice and how badly I have cracked.

So, today I was very conscious of breathing deeply and low, and not exhaling out before singing, but letting what I was singing be the exhaling. While I was doing that, I observed that I didn't feel any strain in my throat at all. I could feel all the sound I was trying to produce coming from below, and not from my throat, because I was conscious of my breathing.

Another observation was that I felt free inside.

Breathing like that while I was singing gave me freedom inside that I felt like I could sing anything 😂. (I can't explain it, there was this spacious feeling I was feeling as well, I don't know how to explain it. 😂

I could project well. It just made singing easier for me.

By now, I would have cracked and would have started looking for what to use to make the sore throat better, but I'm not experiencing any of those things right now.

However, I still feel the need to rest my voice after all that singing. I just feel happy seeing or observing the improvement in just a short period of time since starting the breathing exercises.

In addition to that, I am still attending my physical guitar class, which I also just started. I know it pays to invest in oneself; there is no chance to lose at all. I just pray for the grace and strength to keep doing the things I need to do in order to continue seeing results.

Thanks for reading this post and I hope y'all have an amazing week.
