HIVE OPEN MIC #186 (ENG/ESP): Cinema - "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion (Titanic)

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 186 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Cinema”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. If you are wanting to take part this week, but need some help interpreting what kind of songs would suit the theme, please go check out my post here:

In that post, I suggested some cover songs that would suit the theme well, and you’re welcome to borrow any of the ideas if you still want to take part in the Hive Open Mic this week!

The other suggestions were:

• “Eye of the Tiger” from the “Rocky” training montages
• “Don’t You (Forget About Me) from “The Breakfast Club”
• “(I’ve Had) The Time of my Life” from “Dirty Dancing”
• “New Slang (by The Shins)” from “Garden State”
• “Shallow” (Lady Gaga) from “A Star is Born”
• “I Will Survive” from “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”

All of these songs immediately conjure up the appropriate scene from the movie in my imagination, and also helped to add the perfect mood to make that scene in the movie magical, but I think the most iconic song that does this is “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. It is impossible to hear that song and not immediately picture Kate Winslett and Leo Di Caprio on the front of the Titanic with their arms outstretched, falling in love despite their difference in wealth and class, and yelling “I’m the King of the World!”.

My voice is actually so much lower than Celine Dion’s, that I can play the exact same key on the guitar and simply sing everything a full octave lower! Hahaha! Let’s give it a shot! Here is the original:

Todas estas canciones evocan inmediatamente en mi imaginación la escena apropiada de la película y también ayudaron a agregar el ambiente perfecto para hacer mágica esa escena de la película, pero creo que la canción más icónica que hace esto es “My Heart Will Go”. En” de Celine Dion. Es imposible escuchar esa canción y no imaginarse inmediatamente a Kate Winslett y Leo Di Caprio en la parte delantera del Titanic con los brazos extendidos, enamorándose a pesar de su diferencia de riqueza y clase, y gritando "Soy el rey del mundo". !”.

En realidad, mi voz es mucho más grave que la de Celine Dion, que puedo tocar exactamente la misma tecla en la guitarra y simplemente cantar todo una octava más grave. ¡Jajaja! ¡Vamos a intentarlo! Aquí está el original:
