Hello to all you underwater lovers! It's your one and only Hive Mermaid. Hope your days are doing fine. As for me, I can't seem to hold a high level of energy consistently so I'm on and off here on Hive but I'm trying my best to be active when I can. Anyways, I feel obliged to share another underwater video because why not? As always, I miss freediving. I have been thinking of relocating near the beach where I can freedive anytime I want. Perhaps in the coming years to come.

Anyways, it's been a month since I and @ybanezkim26 had our escapade to Malapascua. And it was amazing but it's the diving spots where we explored that I wanted for you to see! I took charge (as always 😂) with the planning and I booked us online for a boat to bring us to the diving spots. Initially, I booked us 4 days of non-stop freediving but we missed our first day since we were a bit tired when we got to the island.

On the 2nd day, we met up with the owner of the boat. Initially, we were scheduled at 9:00 am then he moved us to 10:00 am. However, when we were already going to the boat, he just mentioned that he was going to merge us with another group that booked a tour with him. At first, I was fine with it but then I got very disappointed because it became an island-hopping activity which I didn't agree to because you only get to spend just 30 minutes or less at a certain spot. I prefer to take our time at a place until I am satisfied with the many videos I have taken underwater.

No worries, my mood was only sour after the whole experience. I still made sure to enjoy our freediving activity despite the struggle of staying underwater for long. I miss it when I can stay for more than 30 seconds to 1 minute underwater. Anyways, we went to 3 diving spots namely the Coral Garden, Japanese Shipwreck, and Dakit-Dakit Island.

Coral Garden is situated on the eastern side of Malapascua Island. True to its name, it is a vast garden filled with a variety of corals everywhere! Different from the ones I'm used to at Moalboal but they were still beautiful. This diving spot is shallow so it's perfect for just snorkeling. It's a marine protected area so no one is allowed to do fishing there. Unfortunately, only seldom do turtles get spotted there.

The Japanese Shipwreck is located near the Lighthouse. It took about 20 minutes to get there from the Coral Garden. I was excited to visit here as @ybanezkim26 kept on saying that it was a unique place for a freediving adventure. But lo and behold, the visibility underwater was close to none. I only saw just a portion of the shipwreck for probably a minute or two then I just decided to stop. There was no point. So we agreed to visit this site the following day.

Dakit-Dakit Island was our last stop. It wasn't a great moment too. The waves were already strong when we got here. The spot where the boat also dropped us was not ideal. There were only a few corals and fishes to be seen. It was also a bit scary for me as the current was strong and one might easily be slammed into the rocky island.

Our first day of freediving in Malapascua was not that remarkably amazing. There were a lot of frustrations on my part probably because I had high expectations. I did talk to the owner of the boat about my sentiments and agreed that in the next following days they will bring us to the dive spots without other joiners and without a time limit. So stay tuned as I will be sharing better underwater videos of Malapascua soon.
