Afro-Latin Baile sa Sugbo | Salsa, Brazilian Zouk, & Bachata Performances

I'm down to the last performances by our amazing dance teachers during our Afro-Latin Baile sa Sugbo event! If you missed watching the other videos, you can check out the list towards the end of this blog. Anyways, it's been many months now since this event however I still wouldn't get tired of watching our videos as they make me smile and remember how fun those days were especially now that I miss dancing! Although living here in the province is refreshing and peaceful, there are times I miss dancing and the friends I danced with.

Salsa Performance by the Cachimbo Dance Company

The Cachimbo Dance Company consists of 3 all-male professional Salsa dancers. They have been dancing for many years nationally and internationally. They shared their knowledge of the Salsa dance during our 1st day of the workshop and it was full of learning especially for me who prefers Bachata and Kizomba more. I never enrolled in Salsa classes and probably won't in the future but I don't mind learning the basics, fundamentals, and some techniques when attending such workshops or events like this.

Anyways, their performance was a bit long but to be honest, my eyes were on them throughout their dance. Was it because it was my first time seeing an all-male group? or because I had a crush on one of them? Or perhaps they were just really good? Let me know what you think!

Brazilian Zouk Performance by Teachers Jem & Marianne

Brazilian Zouk for me was a bit challenging to learn! Well, it requires you to be so relaxed and light on your feet. Me, relax? I drink wine during social dancing just to relax my nerves! 😂 But when you get to witness people dance Brazilian Zouk so beautifully, you would be amazed and want to learn it as well. The workshop done by Teachers Jem and Marianne was all about us learning the fundamentals of this dance. I can say that there was a rhythm that we followed when performing the steps. Hopefully, in the future when presented with the opportunity, I'll perhaps learn or enroll in a Zouk class,

Bachata All-Ladies Performance by Filipina Bachateras

This last one was a surprise performance number by all women professional dancers. Each one has extensive years of dancing Afro-Latin! And guess what! They only choreographed and practiced their dance for just 2 days! It was an amazing performance and felt their presence, sensuality, and feminine power through their moves. It's truly different when it's an all-women thing. Their performance inspired me to be better at dancing as well. I'm only in the 1st year of my dancing journey so there is still more room for me to learn and improve.
