Los cantos navideños o villancicos, son una de esas cosas que sabemos que vienen con los paquetes básicos de rituales de navidad y que en cierta medida nos dan un ambiente diferente al resto del año que nos hace sentir eso que llaman la magia de la navidad, cosa que también en paises como Venezuela se complementa mucho con lo que son las comidas, los adornos y los gratos reencuentros familiares que llenan el ambiente de anécdotas, risas y mucha algarabía.

Christmas songs or carols, are one of those things that we know that come with the basic packages of Christmas rituals and that to some extent give us a different atmosphere to the rest of the year that makes us feel what they call the magic of Christmas, which also in countries like Venezuela is complemented by what are the meals, decorations and pleasant family reunions that fill the atmosphere of anecdotes, laughter and much merriment.

En muchas partes de mi país esta canción se usa durante un ritual llamado la paradura para adorar la figura que va en el pesebre del niño Jesús en la que se hace una procesión por las casas de una zona especifica de los andes donde conocí esta tradición, hablo del estado Mérida. En este ritual las personas van buscando al niño Jesús de casa en casa para saber donde el niño a elegido hacer la fiesta de su nacimiento y en el ambiente se llena de mucha magia y alegría que se vive de una manera tan cálida que siempre esperábamos la navidad solo para repetir este ritual.

In many parts of my country this song is used during a ritual called the paradura to worship the figure that goes in the manger of the baby Jesus in which a procession is made through the houses of a specific area of the Andes where I met this tradition, I speak of the state of Merida. In this ritual people go looking for the baby Jesus from house to house to find out where the child has chosen to make the feast of his birth and the atmosphere is filled with a lot of magic and joy that is lived in such a warm way that we always waited for Christmas just to repeat this ritual.

Aunque ya al crecer nuestras expectativas sobre estas fiestas van cambiando debido a que parte de esa magia se la aportan la inocencia de los niños de la familia, es algo que siempre recuerdo de una manera muy nostálgica y que le aporto muchísima hermosura a estas navidades y a mi vida en general. Por ello esta canción viene cargada con un aura especial de esperanza, nostalgia y amor, así que tiene un significado hermoso que le da sentido al adulto que ahora mismo soy y que sueña con formar una familia para volver a revivir la magia tan maravillosa que estas fechas traen a nuestras vidas.

Although as we grow up our expectations about these holidays change because part of that magic is brought by the innocence of the children in the family, it is something that I always remember in a very nostalgic way and that brings a lot of beauty to this Christmas and to my life in general. That is why this song comes loaded with a special aura of hope, nostalgia and love, so it has a beautiful meaning that gives meaning to the adult that I am right now and who dreams of forming a family to relive the wonderful magic that these dates bring to our lives.
