Amigos de Hive les traemos el recuerdo de un ensayo de Cortando Caña de Chelique Sarabia, tema que formó parte de nuestro repertorio en el concierto Por todos los caminnos del afecto. Hemos estado ocupados con nuestro proximo concierto para Navidad:

¿Cuál es la historia de la canción?

En el año 1962 Chelique Sarabia rinde homenaje a sus amigos músicos trinitarios...y se plantea este proyecto para que fuera interpretado por el músico bajista El Negro José Quintero, quien tenía una cálida y grata voz grave..y no aceptó la propuesta, termina Chelique grabándo las primeras canciones e incluye dos de ellas "Cortando caña" y "Tú intención" en la producción del disco "Chelimanías" donde presenta a María Teresa Chacín y Míster Calypso con sus canciones de la nueva ola en Chelisón.

Seguidamente graba el disco completo de Míster Calypso, con gran éxito, participación exclusiva como atracción del mes en el Show de Reny, donde se disfrazada de dicho personaje Mr. Joseph Caraballo.

Al finalizar esa temporada, lo devela en cámara...y así se descubre que Míster Calypso era Chelique Sarabia....el personaje en muy corto tiempo lo arropó....y él quería seguir siendo Compositor y Productor.

¿Cuál es el género y quién lleva la melodía?

Cortando caña es un calipso donde la melodia la tienen los hombres en todas las estrofas hasta que las contraltos y sopranos la toman en el coro y el final.

Friends of Hive we bring you the memory of a rehearsal of Cortando Caña by Chelique Sarabia, a song that was part of our repertoire in the concert Por todos los caminnos del afecto. We have been busy with our next concert for Christmas:

What is the story of the song?

In the year 1962 Chelique Sarabia pays tribute to his Trinidadian musician friends...and this project is proposed to be interpreted by the bass player El Negro José Quintero, who had a warm and pleasant deep voice...and did not accept the proposal, Chelique ends up recording the first songs and includes two of them "Cortando caña" and "Tú intención" in the production of the album "Chelimanías" where he presents María Teresa Chacín and Míster Calypso with their songs of the new wave in Chelisón.

He then recorded the complete album of Mister Calypso, with great success, participating exclusively as the attraction of the month in the Reny Show, where Mr. Joseph Caraballo disguised himself as this character.

At the end of that season, he unveils it on camera ... and so it is discovered that Mister Calypso was Chelique Sarabia.... the character in a very short time he was swept away.... and he wanted to continue being a Composer and Producer.
