Hello adventurous friends and drone lovers! I bring you a small post where we will do a very short path of just 5km to reach one of the oldest structures in Portugal and which is thought to have been built by a civilization that inhabited these lands more than 3 thousand years ago, long before the Romans and the Moors! Enjoy the post and what I have to show you!📚🍍🚵‍♂️

A hidden treasure discovered with my Drone🚵‍♂️🧭/Un tesoro escondido descubierto con mi Drone🌷🍍

Although in the nineties this beautiful structure was discovered that is part of the Portuguese culture and is a treasure of European learning, few people come to the site because it is hidden between a private area and a path hidden among bushes, so I used my drone to view it from afar and be able to find it! It was quite an adventure, the terrain is quite irregular and as you saw in the video it is more of an area for off-road cyclists than for a walk! therefore there is mud and stones everywhere! and visiting it in winter is quite a challenge!🍍📚🌄

What are megalithic dolmens?🚵‍♂️🧭/Que son los dolmen megaliticos¿¿??🌷🍍

If I don't remember one time I visited a Dolmen, it was actually my first and I brought it for the community so bringing this piece that is much older is something that causes me a lot of emotion because Dolmen are stone structures that serve as "tombs." They are built with large stones and moved with hand tools that are mostly large logs! Visiting these places is taking a trip back in time and learning how they lived and what the rituals of our ancestors were like in the European Mediterranean! Let me tell you that only in Europe can we see it!🧠🚩🌄

What is special about the Carcavelos Dolme?🚵‍♂️🧭/Que tiene de especial el Dolme de Carcavelos?🌷🍍

The "anta de Carcavelos" as it is also known was a discovery that left many scientists with doubts about its function since a dolmen with these characteristics had never been discovered in Portugal, first of all the bones obtained here were not complete, that is, according to The scientists were cut into pieces to be able to put them together so there are some theories that validate that a dolmen not only served as a ritual site to practice a burial ceremony but also as a space to deposit bones! According to the evidence, which was more than 80 adults, the bones showed signs that the skin was torn with a tool and some even had arrowhead wounds!🍍🌄🚩

The landscape of the Carcavelo valley🚵‍♂️🧭/El paisaje del valle de Carcavelo🌷🍍

The place is in an area that, as you can see, is dominated by agriculture and a lot of land is exploited for various uses from logging to agriculture, therefore they are not one of those trails that you can get lost or are dangerous! On the contrary, it is a good family adventure, however in summer since in winter I do not recommend coming here with children because the terrain is dangerous when it rains! You have several places to visit including an old windmill that is hundreds of years old! Also if you come equipped you can visit caves in the mountains where ancestors also lived! In reality I think that those who built this most likely lived in these caves because bones were found inside! The landscape is not very attractive, to say the least, but the large fans give you an idea of what the wind is like in the area!😍🚵‍♂️🧠🌏

the windmill one of the highest points🧭🚩

Here we see some photos of stones that were formed thousands of years ago and that were used and molded with work tools to fulfill a ceremonial function! The stones were extracted from the place, they are limestone rocks and are more than 3000 years old when they were used! We also see the mill in the distance which is a place to stop and take some photos👀🧭🌏

The windmill can be seen along almost the entire trail and is one of the oldest in the area! Since the area is a valley surrounded by many mountains and some with more than 200 meters, the residents took advantage of the wind currents between the mountains to build windmills and use them to crush the seeds and create flour! Getting to this mill is difficult, I actually didn't manage to do it because it seems like a private area!🚩🚩🌏
