Hello dear friends of #hivefood I am very happy to join the initiative called "My Foodie Moment". I had completely forgotten about it, I confess ☹️ But I remembered that @maryed had told me about it and just when I got sick last week I decided to eat on the street, I had the track on and it was difficult to cook.
If you want to know more about this initiative I leave it HERE You still have a chance to participate. I think I'll do version 2.0 😅 I like to have the excuse to eat well.
Pero si van al internet y buscan: Papa a la Huancaína se darán cuenta del orden que debe llevar. Y de hecho, así lo preparan en los hogares también.
FOODIE CULTURE IN LIMA
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some facts about Peruvian food, which is one of the favorites in the world. And its gastronomy is really exquisite. However, the aesthetics of the dishes really caught my attention when I arrived. Yes or yes, you must decorate your dishes, it is part of everything. And although the menu I shared with you was super economical, they still make an effort in the presentation. In another moment I will share more information about it, in my menu there was not much aesthetics.
But if you go to the internet and search for: Papa a la Huancaína you will realize the order it should take. And in fact, this is how it is prepared in homes as well.
MENU
In the Peruvian vocabulary "menu" means the menu that restaurants prepare for all kinds of people who did not have time to cook. It differs from the "Platos a la Carte" because the menus run out, i.e. they prepare a certain amount of Lomo Saltado and if it runs out, you are gone. While a la carte dishes often do not even come with an appetizer or a drink. Let's say then that the menu is a combo meal. Here the Lima culture is used to having lunch away from home and menus are the most practical thing to buy because they are homemade meals. I love the menus because of the economics. 😅
The menu I ate cost $2.64 at today's dollar price. And it has gone up before it cost $1.85 However it is still inexpensive. And if you watch the beginning of the video, outside they always post the sign with what is "available" from the menu. As the hours go by, they simply delete what they no longer have. That's how they do it in many places too, there is almost always the blackboard.
Lomo Saltado
Lomo saltado is one of my favorite dishes par excellence. Whenever it's on the menu, I always choose it. And I was lucky because I have eaten there about 3 times and it never convinced me completely but that day I was very hungry and it was the closest and cheapest. It turned out to be the best option, it was very tasty, maybe it felt a little greasy and in the video I noticed it more, but it doesn't matter, the flavors were just right.
I like the lomo saltado because of the combination of vegetables and fries, of course these should be crispy and the meat with more cilantro. 🤤 But it is very tasty. At first when I came to Peru, I was intimidated by the onion because in all the recipes there is a lot of onion, believe me it doesn't taste bad. The onion goes through a process that makes it lose a little of its strong flavor and absorbs the broth of the preparation. a delight! In ceviche, in lomo saltado, in chicken a la olla and other preparations, it is cut into wedges, but always the red onion, which is sweeter.
Espero amigos que les haya gustado mi video y si tienen alguna pregunta no duden en dejarla en los comentarios. Yo escribiendo esto, quiero comer otra vez ese menú. 🤤
I hope friends that you liked my video and if you have any questions do not hesitate to leave them in the comments. Me writing this, I want to eat again that menu. 🤤
