Afritunes week 107. A song of a fairy tale of a poor orphan with African star apple.

African star apple happen to be one or our best fruits in African. Although I don't know much about other parts of Africa, but I know that in Nigeria especially the south east love it so much and we cherish it. When ever is the season you will see children going out to pick up some of it either to sell or to consume it. Children that goes out very early in the morning will have their basket filled with African star apple because the went out very early. While those that slept off and did not come out early will not have enough for themselves.

This is one of the fruits that you don't plug out with your hands. It is usually allowed to fall by itself and that is when it will be very sweet. But if you plug it our because you can't wait, then you will have yourself to be blamed because the first bit will not be good at all.

Today I decided to do a fairy tale story because it was one of those things that helped us when we were kids. Because of some of these stories told by our parents we were so afraid to do anything evil. We just became so use to it.

We were told that an orphan was picked up by this woman who promised to take very good care of the orphan. But as time goes on she started maltreating this poor little orphan who have no one to help her. When ever this woman goes to the market she will buy enough things for her own children but will not buy for that orphan. This very day the woman bought African star apple and shared for her children. When the poor orphan picked the seed from the apple she ran straight to the bush crying. She planted the seed in the ground and started singing that the seed should please grow for her so that she can take because she have no one to buy it for her. The tree grow up and she was very happy.
When that wicked woman noticed it she went and climb the tree to plug African star apple to take. But the girl started singing her song again and the tree grow so tall that the woman could not come down from the tree.

This was a great lesson for us back then not to try to hurt people who have no one to fight for them because God will always fight for them.
