In the same line of the previous videos, in this opportunity I explain that I also have, for my performance as a salsa singer, the arrangements to enjoy the accompaniment of a Big Band.

But, possibly because of the advances of modern technology and electronic music, there are many people today who have no idea what this type of group is.

Big Bands dominated the jazz scene in the 1940s and became the format of choice in dance venues. Their characteristic is that they have a strong wind instrument component. Their classic line-up consisted of approximately five saxophones (2 altos, 2 tenors and a baritone), which also alternated with the clarinet family. In addition to that, four or five trombones and the same amount of trumpets. These instruments were responsible for carrying the melody and were accompanied by piano, guitar and bass, in addition to the rhythm section, which included at least the drums.

In this genre orchestras such as Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman stood out.

But this type of grouping soon found its lovers in Latin music as well, and many Latin Big Bands quickly emerged. Among those who cultivated this type of orchestration, Tito Rodríguez stands out, who left some wonderful recordings.

In Venezuela, orchestras such as those of Luis Alfonso Larrain, also known as the " Wizard of dance music" and Chuchito Sanoja stood out.

But there are many people who follow two important Venezuelan orchestras, which are still current and permanently active, but many are unaware that their structure is that of a Big Band, such as Los Melódicos and Billo's Caracas Boys.

En la misma línea de los videos anteriores, en esta oportunidad explico que también dispongo, para mi actuación como cantante de salsa, de los arreglos para disfrutar del acompañamiento de una Big Band.

Pero, posiblemente por los avances de la tecnología moderna y de la música electrónica, hay mucha gente hoy en día que no tiene idea de lo que es este tipo de agrupación.

Los Big Bands (lo que se traduce como "banda grande") dominaron la escena del jazz en los años 40 y se convirtieron en el formato preferido en los lugares de baile. Su característica es que tienen un fuerte componente de instrumentos de viento. Su conformación clásica constaba de aproximadamente cinco saxofones (2 altos, 2 tenores y un barítono), los cuales también se alternaban con la familia de los clarinetes. Además de eso, cuatro o cinco trombones y la misma cantidad de trompetas. Estos instrumentos eran responsables de llevar la melodía y se acompañaban por el piano, la guitarra y el bajo, adicional a la sección rítmica, que incluía por lo menos la batería.

En este género destacaron orquesta como la de Glenn Miller y la de Benny Goodman.

Pero este tipo de agrupación encontró muy pronto también sus amantes en la música latina y rápidamente surgieron muchos Big Bands latinos. Entre los que cultivaron este tipo de orquestación, destaca Tito Rodríguez, quien dejó unas grabaciones maravillosas.

En Venezuela destacaron orquestas como las de Luis Alfonso Larrain, llamado también el "Mago de la música bailable" y Chuchito Sanoja.

Pero hay mucha gente que sigue a dos importantes orquestas venezolanas, que siguen siendo actuales y están activas permanentemente, pero muchos desconocen que su estructura es la de Big Band, como lo son la orquesta Los Melódicos y la Billo's Caracas Boys.
