MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 84 - 3 Songs about "The Love of Music"! (2 Covers + 1 Original!)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from the Garden Route in South Africa (usually it's Cape Town but I am enjoying a quick holiday!).

This is my 19th week contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", started by @ablaze. It is week 84 overall!

I am trying to stick to a set pattern, where I perform 2 cover songs (written by famous artists) and 1 original song (written by me) around a theme. This week, I thought I would pick the theme of "The Love of Music"!

Everything seemed to be against my plans to post today! When I finally got the time to record a video, I realised there would only be 15 minutes before the electricity would go out as part of the rolling black-outs we call loadshedding here in South Africa. Then I got hiccups during my last song... and then a phone alarm went off during the final seconds of the last song... so none of my normal "Goodbye and hope to see you next week" speech as usual at the end of the video! Sorry! "Thank you very much for watching" is what I usually say, and I mean it!

Now I'm trying to post the video in the dark using my phone as a hotspot, hoping the local cell tower doesn't go down before it's loaded! Hahaha!

The first cover song I'm going to try is "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, which is an absolute classic and quite a rock number so I'm sorry I didn't bring an amp and distortion on my holiday! Haha!

The next cover song I would like to try is "Walking in Memphis" which was famously covered by Cher but is actually by a man called Marc Cohn. Besides making reference to many pioneers of blues and gospel music like W.C. Handey, Elvis and Reverend Green, there is a part of the last verse where Marc (a Jewish man) is enjoying the Gospel music so much that when he is asked if he is a Christian, he replies "Ma'am I am tonight!" How's that for loving music??

Finally, for my own original song I am going to sing "Save Me with Music". It is going to be quite strange singing this without a loop pedal device... that is how I normally do it these days. In fact, I did it like that for last's week's entry into the Hive Music Festival which you can see here, but I didn't bring any of these fancy toys with me on holiday!:

You can also check out the first time my friend @clairemobey and I sang it in public as part of our set for our collaborative duo called "MobeyDick" - this is how I'm really used to doing it - with Claire's help!

So it was a bit strange singing it unplugged... the hiccups and my phone's alarm going off at the end really didn't help! Haha!
