Greetings to everyone in the #Music community. I wish you a happy and successful week, especially those who do good things. Today I am pleased to share my trumpet interpretation of "Ebb Tide", a song written for Big Band composed by Carl Sigman and Robert Maxwell. The lyrics are a poetic reflection on the nature of love and loss. It is a song that speaks to the universal experience of pain and joy that comes with love. The melodic base with which I interpret this theme is in C major, and the trumpet interprets it a higher tone, in this case in D major. The melody has a wavy or cyclical contour, reflecting the image of the tides. It could start low, rise to a peak, and then descend again. It has a slow, reflective tempo in 4/4 time that creates a sense of fluidity and regularity. "Ebb tide" literally means the outgoing tide, the receding of water away from the shore. In this context, it refers to the falling or low tide.

    Ebb Tide

    First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore
    Then rolls out to sea
And the sea is very still once more

So, I'll rush to your side
    Like the oncoming tide
    With one burning thought
    Will your arms open wide

At last we're face to face
And as we kiss through an embrace
I can tell, I can feel, you are love
You are really mine in the rain, in the dark, in the sun

Like the tide at it's ebb
I'm at peace in the web of your arms
    Ebb tide
