It is a pleasure for me to share with you a Jazz Classic at the Hive Music Festival in its 2nd Week, Round No. 2. «New York, New York» is a song by John Kander and Fred Ebb. You've probably heard Frank Sinatra's version. I think there are endless movies where I've heard this song, and it connects us with New York City, Manhattan Island, Broadway plays and musicals, and the Statue of Liberty. This is a city that is awake day and night, you are told that it is the city that never sleeps. On the other hand, this song makes me connect it with El Norte es una Chimera by Luis E. Fragachan. Many people have gone to try their luck in New York and have not found what they expected. As the popular saying goes, it's not the place, it's you. I think New York is a great place to achieve dreams, but no matter where we are, it's all up to us.

To achieve our dreams we must leave our comfort zone, and even raise the bar. When I have made plans and set goals, I always try to push myself to the fullest. At least as far as my strength allows me. I admire all my friends who have migrated and live in other countries, they are not only trying their luck but doing things they love. Some are cultivating talents, doing a university career, and others working in their family, which seems to me to be the greatest of successes. I recently achieved two certificates in Web and Computer Programming and Web Frontend at Brigham Young University – Idaho. I shared those achievements on my social networks, and I had a very nice experience, where a friend shared my achievement in her status, where she said: "My friend lives in Venezuela, and I got two certificates at BYU, if you can." I know that many of us have limitations, but we should not put limits on our dreams. I recently saw a movie called "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind", where he tells about the life of William Kamkwamba. It is a movie that you can see on Netflix, it is about self-improvement and ingenuity. If you already saw it, great. If you haven't seen it yet, add it to your list. Do not stop fighting for your dreams, however insignificant they may be.

    New York, New York

    Start spreading the news
    I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it
    New York, New York

    These vagabond shoes
    They are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
    New York, New York

I want to wake up in a city
    That never sleeps
And find I'm king of the hill
    Top of the heap

    These small town blues
    They are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
    In old New York

If I can make it there
    I'll make it anywhere
    It's up to you
    New York, New York

    New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
    That doesn't sleep
And find that I'm number one
    Top of the list
    Head of the heap
    King of the hill

    These little town blues
    They've all melted away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it
    In old New York

    And
If I can make it there
    I'll make it practically anywhere
    It's up to you
    New York, New York
    New York
