Hello Everyone, Happy new week, i hope everyone is doing great? Yes, it's good to be back again to present to you my entry for Afritunes week 68. So for this week, i'll be performing a cover of a song by popularly known Nigerian female artiste by the name TENI, the title of the song is HUSTLE.
Teni released this song in 2021 and it immediately "Blows Up" all because of the deep story behind the song that actually relates with everyone out there.
Why i have chosen this song is because i can relate to it quite well in some term i'll be sharing below, but before i do that i'll like to give brief summary about the song, first the word "Hustle" it can be define in differents ways, people use it in different situations BUT in this song the lady was referring to the type of Hustle she was going through in her music career and i want to believe you will agree with me when i say as a music ariste a lot of space is needed for them ( from the outside world) in other to create a song that will get people talking and appreciating there talents. it's just that in the process of being self isolated, there loved ones might think like they were being abandon or neglected and this might start an unnecessary beef.
In my own case it's work, Then i remember i barely have time even for myself when i have to run a shift of 2 DAYS shift (11hours) and 2 NIGHTS shifts (13hours) with less than 48hours as OFF. This was the kind of Hustle for me that some of my friends didn't understand because they were obviously doing better than i was, so anytime they brought up a get together meet i don't always show up due to fatigue and all that. Honestly those days were tough but i guess i survived it all. Also i believe a lot of people are going through something similar most especially in my country nigeria that the economy is not smiling on we citizens, we all have to "Hustle" , work hard to make end means.
Enough said, let's go into my presentation, i hope you enjoy!
HUSTLE / LYRICS
i wan talk my mind o
For anyone wey fit relate o
Ri-di-mah-kool-a-yooo
Sometimes it feels like success is a trap
Sometimes it feels like people don't understand
Cos the pressure plenty and expectations high
Even your day ones wey suppose get your back even day ones dey fight
And everybody has an opinion how you suppose live your life
And even people wey suppose to show you the way na the people dey backbite
No be pride, No be ego
Sometimes i gas change my mind
Sometimes i gas dey behind
Sometimes i will have to say no
Sometimes i gas pour water on top my head
Make this pressure no go drive me insane o
So if you see me outside and i no gree you
No vex baba my head e full o
And baba you know the level
Na this hustle i dey so
(Aye aye ah, aye aye ah, aye aye ah)
Na this hustle i dey so
(Aye aye ah, aye aye ah, aye aye ah)
This hustle can be so overwhelming sometimes
No add your own join my own
I gat so many thing i dey reason
No bother me o
Wo ni iru pala pala wo gan gan l'eleyi
Ki lo se t'enikan o se ri o
Cos family go call, enemy go call
I don't know who is who
No be pride, no be ego
Sometimes i gas stay away
When i have nothing to say
Sometimes i will have to say no
Sometimes i gas pour water on top my head
Make this pressure no go drive me insane o
So if you see me for show and i no greet you
No vex baba, my head e full o
And baba you know the level
Na this hustle i dey so
(Aye aye ah, aye aye ah, aye aye ah)
Na this hustle i dey so
(Aye, aye ah, aye aye ah, aye aye ah)
Of course, of course, They say Teni pompous, yeah
Cos i put myself first
Whoa, they say Teni pompous, yeah
But it's all love, all love, brother, yeah, it's all love
Whoa, it's all love, my brother it's all love
And i'm good with it.
