Hello to all members of the sound music community. There is an unlimited variety of music in the world because everyone's way of expressing themselves differs. That's why the rules can help us to a certain extent when talking about music. After a while, we have to trust our feelings.

Most of us can perceive songs with a certain scale and rhythm frame, and this creates more retention in our memory. I also shared with you the melodies that emerged around a certain rhythm and measure. Today I want to make a difference and introduce you to a new form that is common in Anatolian (Turkey) music. The name of this music form is unmetered folk song.

Unmetered folk song melodies are musical works that are completely outside the rules of rhythm and measure. Let me tell you how they came about or were produced. In Anatolian culture, nobody takes his instrument and composes unmetered folk song or produces unmetered folk song out of nowhere. There is always a reason. These reasons are also diverse. There are reasons for breaking up with a lover, the death of a loved one, separation, longing, social and political events, etc. After these things happen, someone affected appears and begins to lament melodiously. We do not know who that person or persons are, but someone hears these laments and memorizes them. It is learned from language to language, from person to person, and becomes the collective memory of the society. These laments are classified as unmetered folk songs, but as I just mentioned, they have no musical rules. Also, the musical flavors of unmetered folk song tunes are very different from anything else.

After this explanation about long air melodies, let me talk about the piece in my video. The first part of the piece begins in the form of a unmetered folk song, then continues as a folk song within the normal meter rules. The Turkish name is "Bride oo". As you can understand from its name, it tells about love and separation. A young man, who is deeply saddened by the marriage of the girl he loves to another man, expresses his depression. Of course, we do not know who this young man is. What we do know is that these pains and feelings are the common feelings and pains of society.

Bugün bir farklılık yapmak istiyorum ve size Anadolu (Türkiye) müziğinde sık karşılaşılan yeni bir formu tanıtıyorum. Bu müzik formunun adı uzun hava.

Uzun hava ezgileri ritm ve ölçü kurallarının tamamen dışında yer alan müzik eserleri. Nasıl ortaya çıktıklarını ya da üretildiklerini de anlatayım. Anadolu kültüründe kimse enstrümanını alıp uzun hava bestelemez ya da kimse durduk yere uzun hava üretmez. Hep bir sebebi vardır. Bu sebepler de çeşitlidir. Sevgiliden ayrılmak, yakın olan birinin ölmesi, ayrılık, hasret, toplumsal ve siyasi olaylar, vb sebepleri olur. Bunlar olduktan sonra etkilenen birisi ortaya çıkar ve ezgili şekilde ağıt söylemeye başlar. Bizler o kişinin ya da kişilerin kim olduğunu bilemeyiz fakat birileri bu ağıtları duyar ve hafızasına alır. Dilden dile, insandan insana öğrenilir ve toplumun ortak hafızası haline gelir. Bu ağıtlar uzun hava şeklinde sınıflandırılır fakat az önce de bahsettiğim gibi müzikal hiçbir kuralı yoktur. Ayrıca uzun hava ezgilerinin müzikal lezzetleri diğer her şeyden çok farklıdır.

Uzun hava ezgileri ile ilgili bu açıklamanın ardından videomdaki eserden bahsedeyim. Eserin ilk kısmı uzun hava formunda başlıyor, sonrasında normal ölçü kuralları içerisinde bir halk türküsü şeklinde devam ediyor. Türkünün adı "Gelin". Adından da anlayacağınız üzere sevdayı ve ayrılığı anlatıyor. Sevdiği kızın başka bir erkekle evlendirilmesi sebebiyle çok büyük bir üzüntü yaşayan bir genç, yaşadığı buhranı dile getiriyor. Tabiki biz bu gencin kim olduğunu bilmiyoruz. Bildiğimiz şey şu ki, bu acılar ve duygular toplumun ortak duyguları ve acıları.
