A few months back I bought a simple electronic drumkit. This thing does not even have a brand name and there is no touch sensitivity, but I think it will do for learning the basics.
I have done a few online lessons and some general messing around, but I would like to work on some playing with some songs. I started looking around and there are some backing tracks on Youtube to play along with. Today I found a generic rock track for beginners and improvised over it. I tried various patterns I have learned and tried to add a bit of variety. I am not claiming to be a great drummer yet though. I have used the drums with my band at a practice and when we were busking. It has some potential for those purposes.
I may post some more videos as I work on my skills. One issue I have with my videos is a slight audio sync issue. This is quite obvious with drumming so I did a bit of tweaking using the Kdenlive editor on Linux.
There have been other people using the #drumming tag, but not much recently. It would be good to see other drummers on Hive.
