La evolución de Dragon Ball: ¿El fin de una era?

Dragon Ball ha sido uno de los mejores animes de la historia shonen. ¿Y cómo no va a serlo? Desde sus comienzos las aventuras de Goku han sido fascinantes, repletas de torneos y épicas habilidades como el tan popular “Kame Hame Ha”; quien no haya intentado juntar sus manos y gritar la frase para simular un feroz ataque de Ki probablemente, no supo lo que fue la infancia. LOL. Si he de elegir mi saga favorita, fue sin duda la de los guerreros Z; desde Freezer hasta Majin Boo fui testigo de uno de los mejores momentos de este anime japonés, eso hasta su indudable final…

Muchos años después, una nueva serie sobre el universo Dragon Ball vuelve a tocar al mundo. Por mucho tiempo esperé el regreso de Goku y sus amigos, y sin embargo, el resultado, al menos para mí, no fue tan épico como lo soñé. Lo que hoy me trae acá es esa misma sensación que viví tras la primera parte de Dragon Ball Super… ¿Qué tanto ha cambiado este anime?

Dragon Ball has been one of the best anime in shonen history. And how can it not be? Since its inception, Goku's adventures have been fascinating, full of tournaments and epic skills such as the popular "Kame Hame Ha"; Whoever didn't try to put their hands together and shout the phrase to simulate a ferocious Ki attack probably didn't know what childhood was like. If I have to choose my favorite saga, it was without a doubt that of the Z warriors; From Frieza to Majin Boo I witnessed one of the best moments of this Japanese anime, that is until its undoubted end...

Many years later, a new series about the Dragon Ball universe touches the world again. For a long time I waited for the return of Goku and his friends, and yet the result, at least for me, was not as epic as I dreamed it would be. What brings me here today is that same feeling that I experienced after the first part of Dragon Ball Super… How much has this anime changed?

La generación de cristal, le dicen: ya saben, una época donde la violencia en cualquier franquicia animada es intolerable. Si bien el anime japonés, más precisamente el género shonen, es un poco más violento, normalmente en Latinoamérica difícilmente esto pueda verse como algo común. Gracias a esto, muchos animes han sido rematerizados con la finalidad de evitar duros choques en las audiencias más sensibles; Dragon Ball, desde luego, no escapa de ello. La versión Z Kai fue una introducción a lo que veríamos en futuras producciones… actualmente, somos testigos de que el mismo formato “más suave” sigue siendo primordial en el anime.

Aun tenemos peleas algo épicas en Dragon Ball Super, sin embargo, no son nada comparadas a las que vi en la saga de Freezer, ¡para mi esta fue la mejor! Algunos personajes como Gohan han perdido mucha relevancia, cosa que al parecer están intentados cambiar para las nuevas entregas. Los elementos básicos de este anime siguen presentes, pero no con la misma sensación. Aquí mencionaré un elemento importante: las transformaciones de los Saiyayin; aquí conocemos al súper saiyayin azul, una transformación decente pero no como las que imaginé gracias a los Fan Arts.

Although Japanese anime, more precisely the shonen genre, is a little more violent, normally in Latin America this can hardly be seen as something common. Thanks to this, many animes have been remastered in order to avoid hard shocks in the most sensitive audiences; Dragon Ball, of course, does not escape it. The Z Kai version was an introduction to what we would see in future productions… Currently, we are witnessing that the same “softer” format is still paramount in anime.

We still have somewhat epic fights in Dragon Ball Super, however, they are nothing compared to what I saw in the Frieza saga, for me this was the best! Some characters like Gohan have lost a lot of relevance, something that apparently they are trying to change for the new installments. The basic elements of this anime are still present, but not with the same feeling. Here I will mention an important element: the transformations of the Saiyans; here we meet the blue super saiyan, a decent transformation but not like the ones I imagined thanks to the Fan Arts.

Otro cambio que sufrió Dragon Ball en su renovación fue la confección de los villanos. Este anime siempre mantuvo la línea del tiempo y la cosmología entre sus premisas, algo que fue abriéndose que llegó Bill, el dios de la destrucción. Sin duda se ha intentado recobrar la esencia del antiguo Dragon Dall Z en cuanto a los torneos (véase el torneo del poder), en el cual antiguos enemigos pasan a ser aliados potenciales.

Goku sigue siendo la raíz de todo el anime, desde luego, ¡cada vez se hace más fuerte junto a Vegueta! ¿Quién puede vencerlos? La amistad entre ambos parece seguir intacta aunque uno quiera superar al otro. Claro que Dragon Ball super no puede compararse a sus predecesores “Z” y “GT”… pero, ¿Cuál es la razón definitiva? Another change that Dragon Ball underwent in its renewal was the making of the villains. This anime always kept the timeline and cosmology among its premises, something that opened up when Bill, the god of destruction, arrived. Without a doubt, an attempt has been made to recover the essence of the old Dragon Dall Z in terms of tournaments (see the tournament of power), in which former enemies become potential allies.

Goku is still the root of the entire anime, of course, he is getting stronger with Vegeta! Who can beat them? The friendship between the two seems to remain intact even if one wants to surpass the other. Of course Dragon Ball Super cannot be compared to its predecessors “Z” and “GT”… but what is the ultimate reason? I invite you to discover it in the video…
