Wild Runners is like the distant cousin of what the classic Kart video games once were (or are). There are crazy animals that run and want to win first place, using their paws instead of those Machiavellian cars. It's still the same, don't worry. The race and power-up war continues to exist, with those mysterious icons that can give you dangerous abilities that will increase your adrenaline and fun. Stay alert, attack, don't underestimate the other runners, and even more importantly: don't throw your Smartphone on the ground in case you lose the race...

Wild Runners es como el primo lejano de lo que alguna vez fueron (o son) los clásicos videojuegos de Karts. Hay animales locos que corren y quieren ganar el primer lugar, usando sus patas en lugar de esos carros maquiavélicos. Sigue siendo lo mismo, no te preocupes. La carrera y la guerra de potenciadores continúan existiendo, con esos íconos misteriosos que pueden darte habilidades peligrosas que aumentarán tu adrenalina y diversión. Mantente alerta, ataca, no subestimes a los otros corredores y aún más importante: no arrojes tú Smartphone al suelo en caso de que pierdas la carrera…

My eyes have seen video games of all kinds, some crazier than others, but I never imagined coming across a hybrid of the racing genre. The Play Store, in this sense, never stops surprising me. I think Wild Runners surprised me more than that game for girls about pregnant women, I won't talk about that, but this way you can get an idea of what this running animal title can represent among the things that surprise.

Jokes aside: Wild Runners is a good guy, or at least he behaves like a good guy within the immensity of proposals that have derived from the Kart genre, even though Karts don't exist here. What caught my attention was that: there are no cars, but the rest of the things are the same. Plus, there's the sinister design of the corridors and stylized maps. The animals look like the friendly version of the animatronic critters from Five Nights at Freddy's. Why do I say it? If you decide to download Wild Runners, you'll know just by looking at them. The good thing is that here you run to reach the goal and not for your life.

Mis ojos han visto videojuegos de todo tipo, algunos más locos que otros, pero jamás imaginé toparme con un híbrido del género de las carreras. La Play Store, en este sentido, no para de sorprenderme. Creo que Wild Runners me sorprendió más que aquel juego para niñas sobre mujeres embarazadas, no hablaré sobre eso, pero así se pueden dar una idea de lo que este título de animales corredores puede representar dentro de las cosas que sorprenden.

Bromas aparte: Wild Runners es un buen chico, o al menos se comporta como un buen chico dentro de la inmensidad de propuestas que han derivado del género de los Karts, aunque acá los Karts no existan. Lo que me llamó la atención fue eso: no hay carros, pero el resto de cosas son iguales. Además, está el diseño siniestro de los corredores y los mapas estilizados. Los animales parecen la versión amigable de los bichos animatrónicos de Five Nights at Freddy's. ¿Por qué lo digo? Si decides descargar Wild Runners, lo sabrás con tan solo verlos. Lo bueno es que acá corres para llegar a la meta y no por tu vida.

The races are short, with a maximum of six competitors. The maps have obstacles that can slow you down, which can be made worse if rivals use power-ups against you. Don't worry, you can use them too. So far I only have a rabbit and a pig, which will no longer be at Christmas dinner because they are such good runners.

Among the improvements that can be made to your characters are “Powerups” (that word is familiar to me, XD), and it is easy to get them, except that to activate them you need a certain amount of coins, which are difficult to get when you don't win races, or they don't give them to you as rewards. You can buy them in the store (real money), or otherwise watch ads. When you level up, the game gives you free rewards: this is the other alternative.

Las carreras son cortas, con un máximo de seis competidores. Los mapas tienen obstáculos que pueden retrasarte, lo que puede empeorar si los rivales usan potenciadores en tu contra. Tranquilo, también puedes usarlos. Los tres primeros jugadores en llegar a la meta ganan copas y estrellas con las que pueden aumentar de nivel y desbloquear nuevas habilidades, mejorarlas, o ganar nuevos personajes. Hasta ahora solo tengo a un conejo y a un cerdo, los cuales ya no estarán en la cena de navidad por ser tan buenos corredores, XD.

Dentro de las mejoras que pueden hacer a tus personajes o potenciadores están los “Powerups” (esa palabra me es familiar, XD), y es fácil conseguirlos, solo que para activarlos necesitas cierta cantidad de monedas, las cuales sin son difíciles de conseguir cuando no ganas carreras o no te las dan como recompensas. Puedes comprarlas en la tienda (dinero real, XD) o en el caso contrario ver anuncios. Al subir de nivel el juego te otorga recompensas gratis: esta es la otra alternativa.

Now I'm going to say the not-so-good: the optimization. I think it is something that can become your true rival. I noticed some flaws while playing in the “high quality” mode; I think that for a little game that doesn't have as many things as others in the genre, it tends to demand a lot in its graphic style. It looks nice, but I would prefer better gameplay to “pretty graphics”. .

A character's recovery time after being attacked is too slow, so slow that you can end up last and lose the race. Not that this is so bad, but it can be overwhelming. Avoid getting caught by an enemy power-up anyway, XD.

Ahora voy a decir lo no tan bueno: la optimización. Creo que si es algo que puede convertirse en tu verdadero rival. De hecho, pude notar algunas fallas mientras jugaba en el modo “alta calidad”, creo que para ser un jueguito que no tiene tantas cosas como otros del género, tiende a exigir mucho en su estilo gráfico. Se ve bonito, sí, pero yo preferiría una mejor jugabilidad a “gráficos bonitos”.

El tiempo de recuperación de un personaje después de que lo atacan es demasiado lento, tan lento que puedes quedar de último y perder la carrera. No es que esto esté tan mal, pero puede ser abrumador. Evita que no te agarre un potenciador enemigo de todas formas, XD.

Wild Runners is an entertaining video game, even with its flaws. In the gameplay, you can see the racing mode and my runners: the pig and the rabbit, raffled off for victory to avoid the punishment of the Christmas oven. There were four races in total, and in all of them, I had fun and stress at the same time. I hope the developers continue to make improvements, especially the multiplayer... it would be great to compete with the rivalry of good friends. LOL.

Wild Runners es un videojuego entretenido, aun con sus defectos. En el gameplay pueden ver la modalidad de las carreras y a mis corredores: el cerdo y el conejo, sorteando la victoria para evitar el castigo del horno navideño. Fueron cuatro carreras en total, y en todas me divertí y estresé a la vez. Ojalá los desarrolladores sigan incorporando mejoras, sobre todo el multijugador… sería estupendo competir con la rivalidad de los buenos amigos. LOL.
