Historical characters have always fascinated me, each and every one played an important role that has marked the world in some way, that is why when the trailer for this movie came out, I did not hesitate to take the opportunity to immerse myself in the life of this intriguing character.

Los personajes históricos siempre me han causado fascinación, todos y cada uno jugaron un papel importante que ha marcado el mundo de alguna manera, es por eso que cuando salió el tráiler de esta película, no dudé en aprovechar la oportunidad de sumergirme en la vida de este personaje tan intrigante.

Napoleon is a historical drama that presents us with the life of this character, his infinite love for Josephine that was only surpassed by the love he swore to France and those loves were the ones that propelled him to be in the history books today, for better or worse, it depends on the current of each one.

Talking about the movie, it is directed by Ridley Scott known for having directed films like Gladiator, Hannibal, Exodus: Gods and Kings among others, so you can be completely sure that the fight scenes and battles are very well done and are both aesthetically beautiful and cruel, there are battle sequences that made me detach from my seat and understand a little how devastating a war can be.

Napoleón es un drama histórico que nos presenta la vida de este personaje, su amor infinito por Josefina que solo era sobrepasado por el amor que le juraba a Francia y esos amores fueron los que lo impulsaron a estar hoy en día en los libros de historia, para bien o para mal, depende de la corriente de cada uno.

Hablando de la película, está dirigida por Ridley Scott conocido por haber dirigido films como Gladiador, Hannibal, Éxodo: Dioses y Reye entre otras, por lo que puedes estar completamente seguro que las escenas de peleas y batallas están muy bien hechas y son tanto estéticamente bellas como crueles, hay secuencias de batallas que me hicieron despegarme del asiento y entender un poco lo devastador que puede ser una guerra.

Another thing that stands out in this film are the actors Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby. In the video I mention that they are the ideal people to play these roles and Phoenix in my opinion has a special aura for this type of characters that somehow you dislike but at the same time you admire them and Vanessa seems really out of a royal family, perhaps her time in The Crown helped her a little to maintain that imperial character she needed to play Josephine.

Playing a historical drama is not easy because it is a square box in which certain rules must be respected and in this case it depends on the vision that the director and the actors themselves have to approach it and I think that in this film they chose to give much more relevance to Napoleon's immeasurable love for Josephine than to show us the military and war strategist that he was.

I would have liked to see more history of battles, how the conflicts were generated and also the alliances between countries and less interaction between Napoleon and Josephine, however, I do not consider the film to be bad, I just think that, in a way, it ceases to be a drama of history to become a drama of fiction. I was aware that Napoleon was a man who was not really in his right mind, but here we are shown that he was a man who was really hungry for power and also a man who was loved by his fellow soldiers, this no doubt was a great help to him.

Otra cosa que destaca en este film son los actores Joaquin Phoenix y Vanessa Kirby. En el video les menciono que ellos son las personas ideales para interpretar estos roles y es que Phoenix a mi parecer tiene un aura especial para este tipo de personajes que de alguna manera te desagradan pero que a la vez los admiras y Vanessa parece realmente salida de una familia real, quizás su paso por The Crown le ayudó un poco a mantener ese carácter imperial que necesitaba para interpretar a Josefina.

Interpretar un drama histórico no es sencillo porque es una caja cuadrada en la cual se deben respetar ciertas reglas y en este caso depende de la visión que tenga el director y los mismos actores para abordarlo y creo que en este film optaron por darle mucha más relevancia al inconmensurable amor de Napoleón por Josefina que mostrarnos al estratega militar y bélico que era.

Me hubiese gustado ver más historia de batallas, cómo se generaron los conflictos y también las alianzas entre los países y menos interacción entre Napoleón y Josefina, sin embargo, no por eso considero que el film sea malo, solo me parece que, en cierta manera, deja de ser un drama de historia para convertirse en un drama de ficción. Tenía conocimiento de que Napoleón era un hombre que no estaba realmente en sus cabales, pero acá nos muestran que era un hombre realmente hambriento de poder y también un hombre que era querido por sus compañeros militares, esto sin duda fue de gran ayuda para él.

The setting and cinematography that Napoleon presents us with are outstanding and at times this helps us viewers to become immersed in the film, making us almost a part of it, all perfectly accompanied by the soundtrack that in this film in particular completely captured my attention.

This film has a lot to bring out and I'm sure I could watch it many more times and I could bring out a different approach each time. La ambientación y la cinematografía que nos presenta Napoleón son destacables y por momentos esto nos ayuda a los espectadores a sumergirnos en la película, haciéndonos casi partícipes del mismo, todo perfectamente acompañado con la banda sonora que en este film en especial capturó completamente mi atención.
