FAST DESIGN 02 | HELL POISON ⚗️

Hello community, in this session 03, we present a design that took a little more time than the previous two, as more details require more time. It took a total of 15 minutes to finish. I'm still focused on challenging myself to manage time effectively. Continuing with this kind of exercise remains a great way to test myself as a graphic designer.

CONCEPTO / CONCEPT

Les recuerdo que el concepto FAST DESIGN consiste en ponerme a prueba con una imagen generada y, a partir de eso, diseñar lo primero que se me ocurra en el menor tiempo posible, tratando de no superar los 30 o 40 minutos. Solo es un concepto, ya que por razones lógicas, el diseño de cualquier objeto o proyecto es fundamental completarlo con todos los materiales disponibles.

I'd like to remind you that the FAST DESIGN concept is about challenging myself with a generated image and then designing the first thing that comes to mind in the shortest time possible, aiming not to exceed 30 or 40 minutes. It's just a concept because, for logical reasons, the design of any object or project fundamentally requires using all available materials.

PROCESO / PROCESS

Me gustó la idea de incluir a un médico de la plaga, me pareció algo sombrío y con esa majestuosidad oscura que caracterizaba esa época y sigue siendo impactante hoy en día. Dado que ocupaba gran parte de la imagen, que tiene dimensiones de 1024px x 1024px, decidí desplazarlo hacia un costado y crear un rectángulo para aplicar detalles que sean visibles y permitan al espectador interactuar con la imagen para apreciar los elementos colocados.

I liked the idea of featuring a plague doctor; it seemed dark and carried that eerie grandeur that characterized that era and still resonates today. Since the doctor occupied a significant portion of the image, which is 1024px x 1024px, I decided to move it to the side and create a rectangular area for adding details that would be visible, allowing the viewer to interact with the image and observe the elements placed.

Para darle un toque de dinamismo al diseño del médico, hice 2 copias de la imagen para crear un efecto de movimiento, lo que resultó en una imagen mayormente desenfocada, pero dejando el pico del médico atravesando ese efecto.

To play with the design of the plague doctor, I created 2 copies to give it a sense of movement, resulting in a mostly blurred image with the beak of the doctor cutting through that effect.

En el rectángulo del lado derecho, se me ocurrió agregar un título con letras de un color similar al fondo, junto con detalles en color blanco para resaltar el banner.

In the rectangle on the right side, I had the idea to place a title with letters in a color similar to the background, accompanied by white details to make the banner stand out.

Se puede apreciar un cambio drástico en el diseño al agregar detalles de humo verde con pinceles, utilizando una capa por detrás y otra por encima del médico para darle un poco de profundidad. Bajo el banner, se me ocurrió colocar la palabra "POISON" de manera casual, solo para completar el cuadro y llenar ese espacio.

A dramatic change in the design is evident when adding green smoke details using brushes, with one layer behind and another above the plague doctor to create some depth. Below the banner, I had the idea to casually place the word "POISON" just to complete the picture and fill that space.

Para finalizar, se agregaron iconos de estrellas con resplandor para dirigir la vista hacia la lectura del banner y observar los detalles. La textura podría haber ocultado algunas partes visibles, pero era necesaria para lograr un efecto específico. Los invito a hacer la prueba de mirar el diseño final ahora y notar cómo, al observar la portada, su vista es guiada por el color blanco.

To wrap it up, star icons with a glow were added to direct the viewer's gaze towards reading the banner and observing the details. The texture may have covered some visible parts, but it was necessary to achieve a specific effect. I invite you to try looking at the final design now and notice how, when observing the cover, your gaze is guided by the white color.
