Hello lovely people of Afri-tunes community, it's the week 40th of the weekly music event/contest... gradually we're approaching the end of the year 2022 and we're looking forward to next year. It's my prayer that we all cross over to 2023 with Joy.
In this video, I did a cover of a song titled "loruko Jesu" by The Akinpelu girls. I came across this song last year November/December and trust me it blew my mind completely then, I only saw the chorus part, and it was an Acapella with different voices, well parted. I was stunned believe me, normally I don't usually post on my WhatsApp status but I had to post the video then and it was repeatedly. While thinking of what to post for this week this beautiful song came to my mind again and I was like lets do it. Even though have started seeing it on people's status again this year, those girls are good no doubt.
I had to check YouTube for the official video, it was there that I got the verse of the song which I'll be rendering with the chorus.
The song is both a song of thanks and also a prayer song. It talks about how God has been so faithful to us, even though the devil tried alot to put us down and say bad things against us before God, God still remains faithful and put the devil to shame.... Moreso the song is also a prayer song that says "in the name of Jesus we'll cross over to the next year with Joy."
I love the the song so much, and if I don't present it now I might not be a be able to present it again this year maybe till next year, i don't want to see that happening so I had to present it this week. I hope you enjoy my cover of the song.
Am so sorry for the background noise, it was an emergency thing for me, I had to squeeze myself out of rehearsal in church today so as to make the video.
NB: I couldn't lay my hand on the lyrics online, so I got it from the video on YouTube.
Song lyrics
Am amazed by the way that you stay faithful to your word
Your word is yea, and the power never fail
Though the devil will not seize to tell his lies
will not seize to play his tricks
but in your word
we take our rest
loruko Jesu (In the name of Jesus)
lan fowo soya (am/we're beating my chest)
ayo lawa yofi lo odun yi ja (we'll cross over to next year with Joy)
Thanks for stopping by.
