Finally the squabs are here

We never watched baby pigeons this close - finally they are here with us, just next to our window in the kitchen. Sometimes back, I had posted how a couple put up a nest at the same place and tried to hatch their eggs, but last time, they broke those eggs themselves leaving us in utter frustration. But this time, they have hatched two squabs - a live fun for the kids. I was very upset about last time, so I was not letting them put up a nest here, but they took the advantage of our vacation - by the time we came back, we saw them with eggs. The kids requested not to disturb them. You can see the egg being hatched few days back and I was not knowing that the kids were counting the days :)

They were pretty excited to see these baby pigeons yesterday after waiting for long time. We could probably have taken better video by removing that window, but the mother is very protective about the kids - like every mother on this earth. She tries to hit that glass, if any kind of sound happens there. She even does not want to leave them any time, even for food. We tried to give her some rice to eat, but she did not move. Another pigeon ate those rice. Interestingly she feeds these kids by giving them food in their peak - watch the video at 01:47 - the kids peak seems to be mature, may be the nature has put them that way so that they can eat. We are not sure, from where the mother brings that food, not sure, if she has some storage mechanism. This is going to be fun for next one month - as I understand from my google search, the kids will be ready to fly then. But does the mother store the food for this long ? May be she will go after few days and we will be able to clean that glass to take some better videos, but until she gets out of the place, its really scary to try to do any movement at that place. Watch out for more videos and fun in coming days. Someone was telling, pegions bring wealth - may be time for HIVE to go to 10$ :)
