Hello, dear Hive Open Mic community! This week it's our turn to make music around the theme Let's Defeat Distance. Many times we associate distance with a separation from another person or thing, however sometimes we find ourselves distanced from ourselves, from our essence, just to please others and their absurd demands.

It is for the above mentioned that today I want to share a song that speaks precisely of this circumstance. It is Numb, a single from the album Meteora, released in 2003 by the American nu metal band Linkin Park. Its lyrics tell us about someone who little by little has lost himself and has ended up doing what someone else tells him, what someone else expects from him, falling under the pressures for fear of rejection and possibly loneliness; this person needs to defeat the distance he has created with himself.

¡Hola, apreciada comunidad de Hive Open Mic! Esta semana nos toca hacer música en torno a la temática Derrotemos la Distancia. Muchas veces asociamos la distancia con una separación nuestra con otra persona o cosa, sin embargo en ocasiones nos encontramos distanciados realmente de nosotros mismos, de nuestra esencia, solo por complacer a los demás y sus absurdas exigencias.

Es por lo anterior mencionado que el día de hoy quiero compartir una canción que habla justamente de esta circunstancia. Se trata de Numb, sencillo de álbum Meteora, lanzado en 2003 por la banda de nu metal estadounidense Linkin Park. Su letra nos habla de alguien que poco a poco se ha perdido a sí mismo y ha terminado haciendo lo que otro le dice, lo que otro espera de él, cayendo ante las presiones por temor al rechazo y posiblemente a la soledad; esta persona necesita derrotar esa distancia que ha creado consigo mismo.
