Sup Gamers ! Hope you are all doing great !

Today i will bring you a GAMEPLAY and REVIEW of Tribes of Midgard.

Recently my gaming Squad decided to go for this game, and i wouldn't miss this adventure.
I Had not much time to research about it since they were already all downloading it, so i just jumped into it and hoped for the best !

TRIBES OF MIDGARD - WHAT IS IT ?

This is Viking Survival Game ! You will play along up to 10 players in a coop map, and your main goal is to defend the tree of Yggdrasil from the upcomming attacks. To do this, you will have to forge your best equipment, build the best defenses and make a good strategy to beat all the monsters trying to raid your village. The game kind off remember me from those tower defense games, where hoards will come every time.. each time stronger. But all the exploring to find and gather new resources turns the game a little more active and fun. You will feel you are running against the time every second. You can't waste any time, beacause the winter is comming ! and you will have to get the best gear in order to survive it. Game is classified as a hack and slash, just like Path of exile or diablo, but it really does not feel like any of them. It would remeber me more from valhein then these games.

Let's check some of the features in the game !

HACK AND SLASH

You will find a good ammount of different monsters and creatures around the map, they will drop itens when killed. Each weapon gives you different skills. You can have 2 weapons equiped, i ussualy go for sword + bow, but i still have not tried the axes or hammers. Once you understand the mobs mechanics, its much easier to dodge or kill it without geting hit. Some monsters will have ranged attack, and these ones are pretty hard to dodge. you will feel sometimes the projectile is following you. Parrying does not feel good too. You dont get that feeling of parrying and breaking enemy defense. I usually just keep jumping around to avoid enemy attack instead of trying to block it. Monster will drop soul which is a kind of currency in the game. you will use it to upgrade pretty much everything, and also to repair your build.

BUILDING OUTPOSTS

You will find several outpost's outside your main base, from lumbermills, to farms. If you manage to rebuild them by gathering wood, stones, iron and souls, they will start providing you with more resources every 10 minutes. So indeed it is a good way to go on the start. On our next run we will try to go fo this buildings first, to check if they end up paying itself.

INVADING ENEMY CAMPS

Around the map there are a few camps, which you can find treasure chests inside. Its kinda hard to steal the chest without cleaning the camp first since there a few seconds cooldown before opening the chest. As is can see, the chest lvl's are random, ive found lvl 3 chests on beggining camps, and lvl 1 chest on some really hard spots. I think its kinda woth it to clean the camp and get the chest !

STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER

This is one of the most annoying things in this game. This is your worst and most badass enemy. You can't touch the water. Steping on it will instantly kill you, and you will might not be able to retrieve your itens. most of my death so far in this game were due this. Since you are always rolling around to get more speed, sometimes you will end up rolling into the water. and its bye bye time.

BUILDING AROUND

You can also build ramps and walls around the map. This will make you be able to get to spots you couldn't access by any other ways. such as hills. You can jump down to a lower level by pressing space "dodge roll". But to get to higher places, you will need to build ramps, and man... its just terrible. You will end get up stuck every time between your ramps and the walls. Its bad.

THE NIGHT INVASIONS

Every few nights, enemies will try to raid your base. And you must quickly go back to your base to defend it. you can use portal around the map that you unlock or you can use your rune to go back to town. this rune has a 5 mintues cooldown. so use it wisely. The invaisons get harder each night, and monster will drop some special itens needed to craft better weapons. If you fail to defend, they will destroy the Yggdrasil tree, and you will lost the match. There are some bosses that will appear every 4th invasion i guess. they are much harder to kill but drop some cool stuff for crafting. You can use "souls" to recover the tree life.

Crafting

All itens you will use you will have to craft. From potions to Weapons, all is made by gathering resources and transforming into final products. You must also upgrade the level of yout town workers, in order to be able to make higher level stuff. This is good because they will also fight and help during invasions. All i could get so far is to blue itens. We've been dying before we get to purple or red sets.

THE RAGNAROK

This is what the game is about. Everyone is trying to bring up the Ragnarok. This giants are comming towards your base since the start of the game. If you can't find them quick enough, it is gonna be to late when you see him. You must kill him before it gets to your base, otherwise he will destroy everything and you will lose. So far we could beat the 2 first giants. This was the frost giant, and we did some godo damage to him using eletrical weapons. The map will always show you the direction of the closest giant, so its always good send some1 to take a look on it. Bad surprises.. are bad.

Classes

There are 8 classes you can choose in order to unlock different abilities and skills. They are :

Berserker, Guardian, Hunter, Seer, Sentinel, Warrior, Warden and Ranger. i will end up playing all of them in order to see which one suits me the best.

Controls

This is the kind of game where you move with awsd, but also use mouse for point and click. sometimes i end up attacking the wrong direction, it feels weird.

Graphics

Take your own conclusion watching the video. i think this kind of graphics are okay. but i still would enjoy something more dark. Just like Valhein. there you could feel the viking atmosphere.

Music and Sounds

Nothing special here too.. just seems like any other hack and slash sounds. Sometimes you get different music when aproaching bosses, but i really missed a good background and soundtrack going on..

CONCLUSION AND GAMEPLAY

This is it so far. Ill let you with a 1hour gameplay of our complete run ! We decided to leave before we die, so we could save the gold horns, used to buy some special features in the game. This was our second run, and we are still learning a lot. @leleleo already know some tricks, and his being our north star !
In this run we just decided to go for gathering so we could make good weapons and armor to fight the upcomming giants. In this video you will see us fighting 2 of them !
