Hive Open Mic 168 - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" Cover

Hello Hive Open Mic community!
It's Merit here again and this time like always, I'm excited to share this cover song with my fellow singers. Can't thank the community enough for the continuous support and the space given for singers to pitch their net and take music to any level on Hive.

I love the theme for this week, so much that I didn't even think more than five minutes to decide which song I'll do a cover of as I've always had this song in mind ever since I heard it for the first time in a movie.

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" is a song I first heard in a movie titled "Blended" and I liked the scene where it was sang... A lady singing the song to kids who were finding it hard to fall asleep... How calming and lovely! Was my reaction when I heard it.

My dad did played a lot of nice children songs to my siblings and I while we were growing up, they are all memorable but I'm choosing to go for this song as it is what I enjoyed listening to recently and I like the lyrics more.

The song tells about what lies beyond the rainbow, might seem like a fantasy but I like that it made me smile and have some little wishes in mind as I sang through the lyrics, it is a song with so much positivity and wishes to be what the clouds and birds are... Free and above the sky!

I did some editing to show the theme of the week on my video and even the image I used, also added the lyrics of the song on the video as I sang so maybe those who know the song would join in and sing with me.

The song is a lovely one and highly recommended for parents to use on their kids during bed time, so positive and calming. I hope you do enjoy the cover as much I did singing it.
