HIVE OPEN MIC WEEK 130|CREATIVITY AND FREESTYLE|SAXOPHONE AND ELECTRIC GUITAR COVER OF COMMON PERSON BY BURNA BOY
Hello once again to you all, I am so happy to meet you again on this wonderful music space. It is a pleasure to participate in the 130th week of our weekly celebrations of musical talent. It's also good to note that the theme of this week is a very interesting one and thanks to @onos-f for that!
There is a very popular English adage that says, "variety is the spice of life" but today I want to be a bit creative in changing that adage into this "Creativity is the spice of life"!. Yes, imagine how boring or dull and depressing life could have been in the absence of creativity.
While reflecting about this theme, I realised that creativity is not only the act of bringing new ideas to life but also bringing life to existing ideas whether tangible or conceptual. In other words, improvising what has already been in existence.
Personally, I believe that creativity does not only apply to the musical world, it applies to all spheres of life. Hence through this theme, there is the message and the call to feel free to bring life and new light to life in wherever we find ourselves!!
Thus, in response to the theme of creativity and freestyle, I tried to be creative with a very beautiful song by Burna Boy, also known as the "African Giant". The title of the song is Common Person a song about finding one's happiness in very little things. I called on my very talented friend and brother @James-sax to beautify the song with the melody of his saxophone while I played the Guitar and keyboard.
NB I creatively recreated the instrumental of the song with a Yamaha Keyboard.
I really do hope you enjoy it as I anticipate your candid feedback
Below is the link to the Original song
Lyrics of the song
Na me wey dey clean una house
Na me wey dey wash una car
Na me wey dey cook ununu
Na me wey dey wash una cloth
Na me wey dey work for your shop
Na me wey dey hawk ununu
I be common person, but my happiness, oh, still be my own
Everybody get role, no mean say your own role passin' my own
I be common person, but my happiness, oh, still be my own
Everybody get role, no mean say your own role passin' my own
Because na God, I dey put all my faith, food for my plate
Fit no do me jo
Mm, balanso
Even as things no dey go my way
Even in days where no get nothing at all
Mm, balanso
Na me wey dey drive your bus
Na me wey drive your keke
Mm, balanso
Na me wey dey run around
Na me do the job
Mm, balanso
I be common person, but my happiness, oh, still be my own
Everybody get role, no mean say your own role passin' my own
