    About :

This is the Colt MK 3 Lawman. This is referred to as “the lost revolver”. The reason is bc before it was put into production was the first wave explosion of 1911’s in the US bc of the end of WW2. With the production of the new Python and the reproduction and design of the Peacemaker not only did the MK 3 Lawman have to compete with other companies, but it had to compete with its own company against already established revolvers.

First thing’s first again, unload your sidearm. This sidearm is a little dirtier than the Colt King Cobra. Most people will tell you that your guns need to be cleaned every time you fire them. Most people are hypocrites. Unless you’re sending large volumes of rounds when you go to the range, or whatever you’re using your gun for, you don’t have to. I usually find myself cleaning my guns when I see they’re dirty, and I feel like I take good care of all my firearms bc I depend on them to provide my family and me with food.

Have your entire cleaning kit on hand even if you don’t think you’re gonna need it. You could be wrong.

Use one of the patch holders attached to a ram rod to hold your cleaning patch. Open your loading cylinder so you can clean each tube individually. If you just rotate the cylinder and ram through the barrel for each one you will just create more a mess and your oil will run all over the sidearm.

Use your cleaning solution to saturate your patch and then feed it through the barrel, don’t just jam your rod through bc it could hit the firing pin on the opposite side of the cylinder, without an good intact firing pin the condition of the rest of your firearm doesn’t matter. You should try and keep oil off the handle as much as possible.

Use the saturated patch to get other parts of the gun clean as well. The patch only had carbon on it with no chunks, grit, or metal chips or shavings so it is okay to use on the other parts for this particular gun. The trigger and trigger guard should just need a wipe off and polish. The harder to reach places and moving parts should get more than a wipe down. Use a clean patch to go all the areas you put oil to ensure that no more carbon and dirt are in these area. The hammer and space between the hammer and housing for the firing pin should get its own attention.

Use your scrub brushes to clean out the barrel. Make sure the brush is not too big for the barrel. It won’t hurt the gun if it’s a little too big but it just becomes a pain in the ass to push through the barrel this will loosen up the dirt and carbon that couldn’t be wiped out with just the cleaning patches and oil. Use this technique through each housing for the bullets in your cylinder. You can repeat or spend more time on any of these parts if needed.

When you’re all done give the whole gun a nice shine. You shouldn’t have to add anymore oil, there should be plenty from the excess oil already there from the cleaning.
