Here's a bass cover of 'I Fought The Law' by The Clash. This is one I really enjoy playing, especially alongside the band, and I think this one gets a pretty decent reception from the crowd. I think everyone can enjoy some clash when they're out.
Originally, we were learning 'Should I Stay or Should I Go' but, we decided against it in the end, as we thought because of Stranger Things, two things would happen. Either everyone would really enjoy it and like to hear the song, or everyone would be sick of it and get annoyed haha, it was played a hell of a lot at the time, so maybe we done the right thing be swapping it out for this one. Funny enough, we were learning 'Running up That Hill' by Kate Bush, but decided to leave it out for the same reason, well, that and the fact that it was a kind of difficult song to learn. We did have it down, but the structure of it made it a bit difficult to play.
I think as a cover band, it would be amazing having the full 2:30hrs set and then be able to freely learn a song that hits popularity to trade it in and out with the other songs in the set. Currently, we have a good set of songs that a lot of people enjoy, and that we enjoy playing.
Speaking of adding new songs based on current trends and events, we learned two Sinead O'Connor songs, which we're going to play at our upcoming gig. Hopefully we might be able to get some footage of us playing them, which I'll be able to share afterward.
If anyone has any suggestions for songs you'd like to hear, let me know and I'll see if I can learn them and do a video. I always get ideas for songs in mind, but sometimes it's nice to hear from other people. I'll learn and play any genre really, and I like to expand my own listening and playing, but if it turned out well it could be a song that I pitch to the others to potentially learn as a band and play live.
Off To Blackpool
I'm off to Blackpool today, and we're getting the ferry over, we got a pretty decent deal on a sail and rail ticket, I think it cost us about 96 Euros each for returns, and we're going to be back home by about 8:30 AM on Monday. That day, I have a few things on, and then I'm going to be heading out to the Guitarist of the coverbands house, where we'll get in a jam, because we have a gig on Tuesday night, and then my mate is getting in from England on Wednesday, and on Thursday it's my birthday. It's going to be a hectic few days, but it should be a bit of fun.
I've managed to write a couple of posts that I have saved and ready to go so I can try and keep my daily posting streak going, only 4 months left and I'll get my year badge!
